If you pull out your map, you’ll note that Belarus borders both Russia and Ukraine. They had what they hoped was a safe passage to Ukraine through Belarus. They hoped wrong.

Not as large as it was before the invasion. The closet part of the border is in the north where the first incursion was beaten back but I doubt the Russian army has abandoned it. Otherwise it’s through Belorus and I kinda doubt that.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the corrupted Ukie government paid Islamists to attack Russia. The corrupted Ukie government has full control of their banking system, a known fact with the EU bankers.
