Cop killer who shoved victim from Times Square roof 35 years ago could be free soon
Forty-one cop killers in New York state have been released since 2017, with one more possibly on the way.
Eddie Matos — who is serving a 25-years-to-life sentence for the October 1989 murder of NYPD Officer Anthony Dwyer, 23, who was shoved from a Times Square roof — is up for parole later this month after he successfully appealed the board’s denial last year.
“It’s just mind-blowing and very disheartening. They’re letting out all cop killers,” Dwyer’s younger sister, Maureen Brisette, 45, told The Post.

NYPD cops should go on strike...for a week. Watch the Rat Party hacks at City Hall...and in Albany...and in DC...soil themselves.
The transition from prison to modern-day NYC should be a smooth one.
John Lennon had more money than the cop...and he voted Rat.
What was once a highly respected and honored profession has been run into the ground by the left. The pressures of the job today are immense, with every encounter being a potentially career —or life— ending incident. All while getting no support from the media and much of the public at large. My city is offering a $40,000 hiring bonus to attract police officers, and still finding it to be a great challenge to find good people. No surprise.
Yes! I’ve been saying that for years, it’s outrageous. The leftist lunatics running that city are at war with cops trying to get rid of them so they can be replaced with social workers if you can believe it. AOC last year endorsed a nut for city council who wanted to “abolish the NYPD” and she got elected.
I think cops are prevented from striking due to the Taylor law as striking would risk lives, but I say to hell with that. Do it for even 2 days and let these Marxist a-holes see how well their social workers work out
They should take him to a rooftop and wave him goodbye.
This killer should have been given the death penalty.
The far-left, turd rolling baboons are working hard to get all of their supporters out of jail before the election.
Leftardism:it’s not fair someone makes one mistake..murder...and they’re branded for life?
I stopped right there.
Exactly.
Let them rot.
They want them out to kill more policemen and to cause more chaos. Give it to them.
I was at a sub shop a few months ago and a young policeman was behind me. I paid for mine and stepped aside while he ordered. He was reaching for his wallet to pay and I put cash down, telling the cashier it was on me. The policeman was speechless and stammered, “Are you sure?”
My husband is a former policeman and I told him I felt that guy’s pain when I was standing there in front of him - weird but he just seemed ‘spent’. It is a thankless job now, compliments of the democrats and our LE have had targets put on their backs.
Thank you to all law enforcement out there!!!! You are loved!!!!
It’s NY. What do you expect?
Yeah, I know... More than a few bad ones out there. I don’t ‘back the blue’ blindly, but do know a few solidly good men who are in the field. Prosecutors, too. Tough work, and it can mess people up.
release the cop killers to make room for J6 protestors.
Because 'defund the police' isn't 'depleting the ranks' fast enough.
I saw an army recruiting poster yesterday in the mall - where there is a small recruiting office - saying there is a $50,000 bonus for signing up.
My cousin’s daughter’s husband was injured two years ago after a back injury incurred on a police chase - “decommissioned” by the police force and offered a desk job (for the rest of his career) - he “mustered out.”
He worked overnight shifts and one of his colleagues was killed by a robber in a gas station hold-up.
Entire family was extremely relieved, especially my cousin’s daughter who has two small children - the husband fell into a deep depression because police work was his life’s goal. He now works a security company as a consultant.
The mustering out may have saved his life.
