Of the eight uniformed services, five are naval and three are military.

The Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, NOAA, & Public Health Service are considered naval services.

The Army, Air Force, and Space Force are considered military services.

Our political masters have decreed that that, ..., individual, yea, let's go with individual, frozen vegetable is too cold, is an admiral. It's NOT a NAVY admiral. I worked for several admirals, Navy and Coast Guard, and they were all remarkable men, intelligent, honest, and compassionate. They EARNED the title.

I only met one female admiral, that was Grace Hopper. She scared the hell out of me. She was so focused that if she was a laser she could etch microchips from the moon. I did get one of her famous 'nanoseconds'.

I can remember Letterman having her on as a guest in the early ‘80s. She was formidable.

I’m trying to remember why she was on. Was the longest-serving person in the U.S. armed forces at the time?
