It is rude for a newcomer to a thread to barge in and start telling regulars to cease their regular and accepted activity.

He didn’t even ask nicely, he issued an order like he owned the thread.
I think you nailed it— a “newcomer”, who had no clue that what he saw here is supposed to be made acceptable immediately upon arrival, simply because it is present.
I deduced from his reaction that what he saw here is the reverse on greater FR. A spam complaint may get swift action when the complaint is deemed valid, as FR defines it.
Regardless, he was immediately told to “... get the hell out”. He certainly did that.
