Oklahoma non-binary Nex Benedict died by suicide from a drug overdose, not from injuries sustained in a school fight, a medical examiner has confirmed.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's report said Benedict's death was caused by a combined overdose of Diphenhydramine and Fluoxetine, according to News On 6.
Nex, 16, who was born Dagny, died on February 8, just a day after sustaining head trauma in a bathroom fight in Owasso High School, Oklahoma.
Their death became a rallying point for trans and LGBT activists across the country - and several vigils and walk-outs were organized to remember the student.
Nex's biological grandmother and legal guardian, Sue Benedict, told The Independent that her child has been repeatedly bullied by various students for over a year due to their non-binary identity.
'Nex was attacked and assaulted in a bathroom by a group of other students. A day later, the Benedict's beautiful child lost their life,' the family said in a statement.
The police department released a statement on Wednesday: 'From the beginning of this investigation, Owasso Police observed many indications that this death was the result of suicide.
'However, investigators did not wish to confirm that information without the final results being presented by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office.
'The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's report has now been made public.
'The Owasso Police Department would like to take this moment to inform anyone in crisis or contemplating suicide of the Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline, just call or text 988.'
Bodycam footage was previously released following the account Nex gave police describing the attack by 'bullies' in a school bathroom the day before they died.

In the hospital video, the subject appears to be developing more masculine features than seen in the photo of the subject , namely a heavy brow, and wide jawline, and a deeper voice. IIRC.
Anti- histamine, antidepressants and head trauma could have killed the subject.

My nephews son is a student at Owasso high school. He is the same age as Nex.
It is a large school. He said everyone knew this Nex.
This Nex and its friends were very militant and in your face.
Owasso used to be a very small town. With all the people running from Tulsa, it has grown tremendously.
The spill over from Tulsa is ruining the surrounding small communities.

I saw my first panhandler complete beggar sign with shopping cart.
Preferred pronouns don’t have to adhere to English language rules. I read it and was unsure how many died and this could be about just one of THEM. THEY appeared to be crazy. I guess if the individual had multiple personalities then it could be classified as multiple deaths. Crazy damn country. We screw up the kids and expect a future.
