The recent advance of Russian forces on Ukraine's eastern front appears to be slowing as Kyiv's embattled units establish new defensive lines following the fall of Avdiivka last month.
Ukrainian troops appear to have avoided a feared collapse of local defensive lines following their withdrawal from Avdviivka in February, after years of tough fighting over the fortified Donetsk settlement in the east of the country. Russian forces scored limited advances at other points along the Donetsk front, though this has not precipitated a breakthrough of Ukrainian lines there.
The Institute for the Study of War's Sunday update of the battlefield situation reported continued "positional engagements" but no significant Russian gains.
The New York Times reported this weekend that Russia's slow advance has become bogged down around the Donetsk villages of Berdychi, Orlivka and Tonenke where the open ground beyond Avdiivka has made assaults more difficult. Kyiv has reportedly drafted in some of its best units to head off the Russian thrust here, including some armed with American-made armored vehicles and tanks.

- US President Joe Biden claims Ukraine can “beat Putin” if given the weapons and ammunition to do so;
-The weapons and ammunition simply do not exist in the necessary quantities to do so and what is being sent to Ukraine is performing far short of expectations;
- US-made M1 Abrams destroyed by Russian T-72B3 dispelling the myth of American military superiority;
- Western arms manufacturers continue claiming interest in building facilities inside Ukraine but fail to explain how they would prevent such facilities from being destroyed by Russian missiles and drones;
- The West is failing to deliver sufficient amounts of artillery ammunition with a recent plan to secure rounds from outside the EU falling short of its 800,000 target;
- Increasing talk of more direct Western intervention in Ukraine suggests growing desperation among Western capitals;

From news: Ministry of Defense of Belarus: a comprehensive check of the combat readiness of formations and military units has begun in the Armed Forces. The personnel will have to move to designated areas and conduct a series of exercises and training, including live fire. During the inspection, the movement of military equipment is planned, and it is possible to temporarily restrict the movement of civilian transport on public roads and areas.

The corrupted Ukie government is out of money, out of manpower, out of ammunition, internal population down to 20-24 million, more than half of the country’s infrastructure destroyed, exports down to nothing, manufacturing base destroyed….

That is the money quote. If the war was going well there would never be talk of NATO troops fighting and dying in the Ukraine. They are desperate.
