CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Concealed-Carry License holder killed an attempted robbery suspect during a shootout on the city's South Side early Friday morning, Chicago police said.
A 60-year-old man had just used an ATM down the street from his home. He was outside when a suspect, identified only as male, approached him on a bike, police said.
Police said that's when the suspect, whose age was not immediately known, took out a gun and demanded the man's money and other belongings.
The victim, who is a valid FOID card and CCL holder, took out his own gun and an exchange of gunfire ensued, police said. Both the victim and the suspect were shot.
Police said the suspect suffered gunshot wounds throughout his body and was transported to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 60-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his back and left arm and was transported to the same hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

The south side of Chicago...is the baddest part of town
My DL has that info.
I just love a story with a happy ending.
What a feel good story of the day.
As Dionne Warwick and Stevie Wonder sang in that song:
“That’s What Guns Are For!”
Now that's the way I like it. Empty the magazine till they stop squirming.
what are the odds of robbing a CCL holder in Chicago?
Righteous!
No photos of the perp from when he was in high school studying to get into Harvard?
Prayers up for his speedy and uneventful recovery.
“...when a suspect, identified only as male...”
“He was... a man.”

Feel Good story of the day!
I wonder if the would-be victim’s name was LeRoy Brown?;)
Hope he bled out nice and slow so he had time to ponder his mistakes.

Just a wild guess but the suspect's age would be somewhat less than that of the 60 year old.
Is this true, beyond the song lyrics?
Much like real estate when it comes to bullets in your body it’s location location location.
Was it a .32 gun in his pocket full of fun or a razor in his shoe?
Center chest, work you way up.
