Blue Note

From crypto-focused site Blockworks:

With bitcoin nearing its all-time high, eye watering nonfungible token sales appear to be cropping back up. A CryptoPunk just sold for 4,500 ether, worth over $16 million at current prices.

That’s the second largest sale ever for the blue-chip NFT collection, trailing only a $23.7 million CryptoPunk purchase made in Feb. 2022. CryptoPunk 3100, the one that sold Monday morning, sold for $2,127 in 2017 before changing hands again for $7.58 million in 2021.

There are 10,000 unique CryptoPunks. Each punk has randomly generated attributes, like differing glasses or hairstyles. Punk 3100 is one of nine so-called alien punks that have blueish skin. The rareness of this attribute has made alien punks the most sought-after CryptoPunks.

There are going to be a lot of stories about “crypto millionaires” in the next few months. Normally, I would think this would indicate a local top. But this time “seems” different. And yes, I am old enough and been through enough to know it’s almost never different.

I guess these millenials and Gen Z kids are finally going to get enough money to buy a house. ha Ha.

Gold was also up crazy money today.

This does not bode well for the future.

I included this topic in my new book about investor collecting. It seems insane, but it’s a new generation with questionable values. Just wait ‘til 3D virtual reality becomes ubiquitous. It’s gonna be crazy.

https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/tulip_mania_the_history_of_the_tulip_market

the most sought-after, prized tulips were the streaked tulips, especially yellow or white streaks on a red or purple background. These flame-like tulips were highly sought after. Interestingly, the streaks or “flames” of the tulip petals were caused by a virus. The virus is the tulip breaking virus, or tulip mosaic virus.

Prices for the tulips with the prized virus rose steadily. By 1634, the demand for the tulips was incredibly high and tulip traders were in a tulip frenzy. This became known in the botany world as “tulip mania.” Tulip mania reached its peak in the winter of 1636 and 1637 when bulbs were changing hands at an increasing rate, but no delivery of these precious bulbs were ever fulfilled.

I don’t understand this NFT stuff. Much like I don’t understand Pokemon cards etc. To each one’s own I guess.

I don’t think this time is different but do think that we are nowhere near bubble stage.

IMO It needs everyone and their grandmother involved and we need to see outrageous predictions for the future to reach bubble stage.

Within the “community” the predictions are mind boggling. It will be fun to watch.

There is nothing that can slow this down.

S&P is crazy and getting out is crazy with rampant inflation.

Keep your home or low mortgage. Keep that old car.

I missed out on all those except I got a stadium give away Beanie Baby from MLB back in the 1990s. I don’t think I have it anymore though. :)

I had to read the title three times as I thought all the made up words/things in it were going to lead into a LGBTQIA+ article. Imagine my surprise when it ends up being about e-money Lol
