Ya know, it is quite revealing, given the upbringing he had and the “public presentation” coaching he has had.
As a child he was told to never point at anyone (it’s insulting and dehumanizing) and I’m sure Dad enforced it.
He was coached, in public speeches, to replace his single finger with other gestures less specific.
Watch his speeches and he will use the “OK” sign often and three-fingers when looking at a specific spot/person.
Those come to mind quickly but there are others.
The exceptions are in the walk-up, he will point at known friends (but that isn’t in the speech) to personalize his recognition.
He will reserve the straight-finger insult for the media gaggle.
