Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Must Take Paternity Test, Judge Rules
ESPN ^ | Feb 29, 2024

A judge has upheld a decision requiring Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to take a paternity test as part of a legal dispute with a 27-year-old woman who says the billionaire is her biological father.

A Texas judge on Wednesday rejected an appeal from Jones of a 2022 ruling in a paternity case brought by Alexandra Davis, who previously alleged in a separate lawsuit that she was conceived from a relationship Jones had with her mother in the mid-1990s.

Attorneys for Jones are challenging the constitutionality of the Texas law that would compel genetic testing of Jones. In March 2022, Davis sued Jones in Dallas County, asking a judge to void a legal agreement she said her mother, Cynthia Davis, reached with Jones two years after she was born. The 1998 settlement allegedly said Jones would support them financially as long as they didn't publicly say he was Alexandra's father -- something the married owner of the Cowboys has denied.

They can but... Depending on the state you’re in and the probate laws and such the courts might not be into it and could wind up rewriting the will. And really in this case if the test comes back positive he’d be better off putting her in. He could write her in for $100 million, which is really just rounding error in his fortune, she’d be set for life, and his other kids wouldn’t even notice.

How would you feel if your father never talked to you and treated you like some back alley sprog?

She may be angry she grew up without a father, and about his behavior towards her. And seeing how spoiled her siblings are.

Jerry Lewis left nothing to his children. So did some other celebrity recently.

At this point, does it matter if she is biologically his. He paid millions for her upbringing, and a trust fund until she is 28. Could they argue she's his daughter, even if it's not biological?

That’s what I’ve been alluding to she could be the legitimate child of a very famous wealthy person who has refused to acknowledge her if that turns out to be true then the entire Cowboy world could be turned upside down

“If she gets a chunk of Jerry’s fortune she’ll get a lot hotter”

Yes, money seems to have an effective way of lowering people’s standards and character.....as well as other things.

How would it change the Cowboy world? His wife has known for two years that he had an affair and secretly paid for a child. She will be less mad based on a DNA test?

Yeah, you can do it. There’s the whole estranged disowned thing. Now in Lweis’ case his kids bailed on him (with good reason, but also fairly publicly), so when he explicitly cut them out of his will the courts probably would have sided with him if they contested it.

Now for an illegitimate kid the math is a bit different. That’s not the kid choosing to not have a relationship. And then of course there’s this trust fund thing, so was she “functionally” her kid. If she wanted to take it to court she’d probably do well.

Think for a second, Jerry Jones is old but a very smart businessman he has a succession plan lined up for when he dies that probably includes his children if at this stage another child emerges then that changes the succession plan and what percentage of ownership the children will be getting, Jerry Jones has 3 children what if instead of dividing everything 3 ways now that has to be 4 ways that is a huge amount of money and it creates real problems

Not supporting a child you’re responsible for is also a real problem.

Well if my father paid my mother millions to take care of me but wanted no relationship with either she or me, then I would hope by 27 years of age I would prefer not to know him either.

Bad things happen to most of us in life but we are best served when we avoid anger and bitter actions. Hopefully she learns what huge mistakes her Mother made and resolve not to follow in her footsteps.

**She’s pretty plain if you ask me**

She’s allowing the natural beauty to dominate, which is wonderful. Maybe three items used on her face: a matching skin color to hide blemishes, mascara, and a subtle lipstick. She looks very similar to my wife in wifee’s engagement photo.

My wife usually wore just those three cosmetic products, but quit it entirely at 26. She wore eye shadow some when 15-16. She only has a 2 or 3 photos of her like that. Doesn’t even look good. Not sure if I’d gave her a second look that night I first saw her if she had that stuff on.

So many wear what is essentially a mask of paint, (according to the wifee) using as many as a dozen products.

Where does the law say a judge gets to decide whether one has a good reason or a bad reason to disinherit. Who knows, maybe Jerry Lewis' children were in the right.

Bill Gates held a press conference when his first child was born and announced he was cutting all his children out of his will. Does a judge get to decide that.

Supposedly he’s been financially responsible for her but having an equal share of the Dallas Cowboys is an entirely different matter

The current value of the Dallas Cowboys is around 8 billion dollars, Jerry Jones has 3 children, what if now he’s got 4 children that could radically change the inheritance plan he’s got laid out

Would you want to know your siblings?

I probably wouldn't want to know him either. But a lot of anger and resentment could be built up.

If she gets a chunk of Jerry’s fortune she’ll get a lot hotter.

They might make her a Cowboy cheerleader and give her the rights to pick the Cowboy of her choice.

I hate the cowboys.

Again, this is a state by state issue. Probate laws vary dramatically. But there are definitely court defined “good” and “bad” reasons to leave somebody out of your will. And yes if you cut people out of your will a judge does get to decide that. Of course in many states you can “pre-probate” which really helps, partly because it’s really just you, your lawyer, and the judge. So you get to tell the judge why and the people you’re cutting out aren’t there to say “but”. It’s all terribly complicated, made more complicated because of the quantity of lawyers that tend to show up.

Oh no. His will might have to change. Whatever shall they do?

Probably should have not gotten someone pregnant.

I agree with you, all I’m saying is if this woman turns out to be Jerry Jones child then the ownership of the Dallas Cowboys could change which is a huge deal
