I get the principle, but it does seem petty.

Kind of risky eating a left over tuna sandwich. What they do count the leftovers or something?

“Total Clean, who posted profits of £1.6million last year, told Ms Rodriguez the theft had “irrevocably destroyed” their trust by eating the sandwich.”

The Mirror can butcher the Queen’s English with the best of them. It’s good to see the Daily Mail has some serious competition.

If this law firm is so stupid as to not see the incredibly bad PR of doing this, I’d never hire them. Win the battle on principle, lose the war.

I would not eat any sandwich leftover from a stranger, even if I was paid to eat it. But then I have never been un-employed or short of cash for food. So, may be I am not wearing those shoes.

If it was in the fridge, fire her.

If it was on a platter, its open season.

Anyone else think of Dickens while reading this?

I imagine “top London law firms” are made up of society wankers and in-bred bell ends.

Maids, janitors, the repair plumber that moves around your house, cops checking your home, if an employer ever catches them making decisions of what they consider situational pilfering, or of taking little things that “no one will notice or miss” then at the very least fire them.

Will she be replaced by a £8/hr cleaner?

How much do they bill per hour? How much did they pay this woman per hour?

Let her have the sandwich!

Her job likely includes throwing away food left in the office. Few normal people would grudge her discreetly eating food otherwise going into the trash.

There is a risk to the company if they officially encourage this, since someone might get sick from leftover tuna, for example.

In the early 1990s, a night-time cleaner at my company was fired for eating leftover birthday cake.

If the employees had left for the day and the sandwich was not put in the refrigerator, it was reasonable to assume it was trash to be disposed of as the cleaning person saw fit.

She could have pooped it out, and returned it, as Totally Cleaned, processed by her company.
