Closely tied plastic bag will prevent Amoeba infestation :)
Dump a truck-load of chlorine into the spring and see if it survives.

The discovery of a cyanobacteria called Thermus aquaticus was one instance of a gamechanger. Found in a Yellowstone hot spring, the bacteria defies all preconceived notions the organism cannot tolerate high temperatures. This one actually prefers water above 158 degrees. Does this mean life can exist on hot planets?
