Former Republican Governor Larry Hogan announced he will run for Maryland’s open US Senate seat, giving the GOP a strong candidate in a state the party hasn’t carried in a Senate election for decades.

Hogan is about as republican as AOC.
All the judges.
I’ll wait for another Connie Morella,NoHogan corruption filling his pockets for me.
I can’t. I just can’t.
Lockdown Larry is untrustworthy.
Most of the state outside of Baltimordor - Monkey County - PG County is fairly conservative. Surely someone else can be found?
If there’s no MAGA candidate, he’d be better than almost any Democrat. Conservatives might even get a a few good votes out of this RINO.
This same political mindset needs to be used, in order to encourage RINO Charlie Baker to run for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts! Massachusetts is another example of a state where no actual conservative has any serious chances of, actually, winning at the highest levels of Massachusetts political office. In fact, Massachusetts is to the political left of everybody else throughout the U.S. with the exception of Washington D.C. Charlie Baker is more than capable of winning a U.S. Senate race against Senator Elizabeth Warren, and this would be a missed opportunity, if it doesn’t happen.
Well In Maryland you won’t get better. We have to decide if bring in the minority with 40 or so conservatives is better then majority with 55 but some only help 50 percent of the time.
I disagree. Only good thing he did was enable CC permits.
Mittens gave trump 300 judges.
Yep, better than Cardin
Hogan isn’t my first choice of a Republican Senator, but he will be better than a MARXIST, er I mean Democrat.
Are you from Maryland?
As a resident of the deep blue state of MD I can assure you that Joe Manchin is Calvin Coolidge compared to this clown. He is a former car salesman who is an opportunist at heart.
A true RINO, but in MD beggars can’t be choosers.
“Ok people. Time to get in line and hope this rino wins.”
Yep, as I doubt a Ted Cruz clone would do very well in Maryland.
But let’s look at the options for voters there with Hogan (assuming typical RINO voting) and a ‘mainstream’ Democrat (as a Joe Manchin clone would have as much chance as Cruz to even get nominated)
1. Guns - both grab
2. Immigration - Dem certain for Open Borders, Hogan maybe (after all, all Republicans lined up AGAINST it in the Senate vote a week or so ago)
3. Ukraine and other Neocon ‘projects’ - Dem is certain, Hogan likely
4. Trump’s Appointees which are opposed by Democrats - Dem is certain to vote against, Hogan 90% certain to support
5. Trump’s Judges which are opposed by Democrats - Dem is certain to vote against, Hogan 95% certain to support
...and keep in mind, the only thing preventing Democrats from implementing their Final Solution (ending whiteness, for good) are the conservative judges.
We’re not asking people to have a beer with Hogan, only to vote for him because of the above. RINOs usually split their votes when in close Senate votes - so if you have 8 RINOs, 4 will join the Democrats (who always vote as a block). If the total number of Republicans in the Senate is 55, then the Republicans win it. If the total is 52, we lose.
Bottom line is that having a significant majority with RINOs sprinkled in (in blue states), is FAR BETTER than having 48 Republican ‘purists’ (only), and thus LOSING EVERY VOTE.
“He would be better than any Democrat elected in Maryland.”
Au contraire, Pierre.
LET the Democrat get elected. At least we may be sure of not getting knifed in the back on a critical vote sometime down the line, like McCain did on repeal of Obamacare.
RINOs are, and shall always be, politically unreliable, often coming down solidly on both sides of any issue, advocating the principle in floor speeches, but then voting AGAINST the execution.
The problem with that "improvement" is it assumes a guaranteed loss is better than a possible loss.
Alternatively, it assumes people depend on unreliable associates. McCain was known to be unreliable. Was it better to find out he was a liar and a traitor than to never make the attempt?
Senator McCain serves as an object lesson on how much we are routinely mislead and lied to by those who have gained political power.
The potential problems of an uncertain ally are real, but so are the problems of a certain enemy.
*I’m taking a wait and see on No Hero Hogan.* Wait for what? We know who he is.
*I will NEVER go back to electing some stinking RINO just because there is an R next to his name!!!!* Committee chairmen-you need 51.
*Take the RINO..for now.* A true RINO, but in MD beggars can’t be choosers.*Bingo!
*Most of the state outside of Baltimordor - Monkey County - PG County is fairly conservative. Surely someone else can be found?* Y U gotta B wrong?
*At least we may be sure of not getting knifed in the back like McCain did on Obamacare.* 2 terms then get to work unless it’s Ron Johnson/Collins.
*Charlie Baker is more than capable of winning a U.S. Senate race against Senator Elizabeth Warren, and this would be a missed opportunity, if it doesn’t happen.*
Nope. Big hill to climb. Courage to do it? Come on man!
At least a flaming rino could give republicans control of the senate.
Agreed, but of course the voters of MD elected and reelected him. I ask you as a MD resident if he can win
