NYPD pulls the plug on its Times Square subway police robot (RoboCop Fail)

NYPD has pulled its robot security cops from the Times Square subway station The end of the AI security system comes just months after Mayor Eric Adams unveiled the robots and described them as 'part of the fabric' of the future It's unclear whether the AI program was considered a success, but New Yorkers are glad that the robots are out NYPD's security robot has been pulled from its Times Square subway station post just months after Eric Adams described it as 'part of the fabric' of the future.

New York Police Department unveiled its fleet of 'Big Brother' robocops that would patrol the city's streets and subways in April.

In September, Mayor Eric Adams announced another robot would be joining the department - an almost 400-pound robot to roam the Times Square - 42nd Street subway station and patrol the mezzanine level of the station. The AI-driven security robots are no longer being deployed in New York City's transit system, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The end of robot security at the Big Apple's most busy subway station comes after Adams called the tech part of the system's future.

I looked but couldn’t find an “after” picture. Is it now grimy, graffiti-covered, dented, maybe some bullet holes?

What happened is that miscreants and juvenile delinquents were pushing this RoboCop machine over. The machine was obviously top heavy.

For NYC it is back to the drawing board. The real 1987 RoboCop was equipped, not stripped

In the 1987 film “RoboCop”, the iconic cybernetic law enforcement officer, Alex Murphy, is equipped with an impressive array of weaponry. Let’s delve into the armaments that make RoboCop a formidable force:

Auto 9 (Beretta 93R): RoboCop’s primary sidearm is the “Auto 9”, a heavily modified Beretta 93R machine pistol. This weapon features a longer barrel with an enormous compensator/flash hider shaped like a casket. RoboCop typically fires it in 3-round burst mode. The fictional stats claim an implausibly huge 50-round magazine1. !RoboCop firing the Auto 9

Heavy Weapons:
Cobra Assault Cannon (Barrett M82): RoboCop wields this powerful weapon, which is essentially a modified Barrett M82 sniper rifle. In the film, it’s referred to as the “Cobra Assault Cannon”1.

Hawk MM1 Grenade Launcher: Another heavy weapon in RoboCop’s arsenal is the Hawk MM1, a formidable grenade launcher1.

ED-209 Armaments: The ED-209, a fearsome law enforcement robot, also appears in the film. It’s armed with various weapons, including machine guns and a twin-barreled autocannon1. !ED-209 with its twin-barreled autocannon

Either that or there was “consideration”. Robot company gets the contract. NYC officials get a kickback.
