Fulton County DA’s office moves to quash Fani Willis, top prosecutor subpoenas ahead of hearing

The Fulton County district attorney’s office asked a Georgia judge Wednesday to quash subpoenas of top prosecutors in former President Trump’s 2020 election interference case that would require them to testify at a hearing next week over whether they should be booted from the case.

After accusing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) and special prosecutor Nathan Wade of having romantic ties, one of Trump’s co-defendants in Georgia subpoenaed the duo along with more than a half-dozen of their colleagues for the hearing, scheduled for Feb. 15.

Both Willis and Wade last week admitted to having a “personal relationship,” but the district attorney’s office had described the calls to step aside baseless and said there is no need for the hearing.

In a new 36-page motion Wednesday, the district attorney’s office described the subpoenas as “ill-conceived” and based on “reckless accusations,” urging Judge Scott McAfee to block the attempt to compel Willis, Wade and others to testify at the hearing.

“Georgia law—as well as authority from across the country—predictably frowns on a process that permits counsel for one litigant to compel the testimony of counsel and employees of the opposing party, and there is no justification to depart from that general principle here,” special prosecutor Anna Green Cross wrote on the state’s behalf.

The district attorney’s office also accused defense counsel of attempting to “disrupt and delay” the prosecution.

“The effort should be promptly brought to a close,” prosecutors wrote.

Mike Roman, a Trump 2020 campaign staffer who is one of the former president’s co-defendants in Georgia, first accused Willis of having romantic ties with Wade in court papers filed last month.

Not sure on that one but they seem to have ‘ol Nathan and maybe even Fani dead to rights on a perjury charge in sworn documents which is kind of breathtaking for any lawyer much less a DA and Special Prosecutor in one of the most high profile cases in the last century.

Can't tell if it's I'm untouchable arrogance or just pure stupidity driving these clowns but just wowser!

Fani will get thrown under the bus and replaced. Shes done. So is Nathan Wade. This is yummy stuff for me. Hope everyone here is enjoying it as much as I am.

Im guessing big Fani and angry Nathan will not be seen together anytime soon. Any bets on when they'll both be fired? A dozen donuts says by end of march. Probably sooner.

Allasudden I want to go pic. Or better, send a pack of these to the Fulton County DA's office.

I thought the Clintons were ‘Yale’ lawyers ... Why would either of them promote Larry the Harvard ... now ol Barry Sureto (sp) should have plowed the earth for Larry, ... He might have even got assistance from Ted Cruz and Mitt could have pressed some flesh along the way ..

I have no way of knowing just how far leftist Larry literally is, given the Roberts, Baarret, Somotamayro and Kagan ... Larry would fit right in.

yep, not like arresting Trump’s attorney at the airport and seizing their phone. Or dragging them in front of a Grand Jury to testify. Or indicting them and charging them so they cannot represent Trump. The follow opinion of these methods is ******************************************************************************************************** *****************************************************************************

““there is no justification to depart from that general principle here”

As an actual lawyer, I can tell you having an undisclosed romantic relationship with your specially hired prosecutor is more than enough justification. Add in the money, its a slam dunk.

They say these things that are complete lies and the MSM just repeats. This is first year ethics class stuff. Any lawyer could tell you, assuming they are honest with their opinion and not driven by political bias.”

I can’t believe the number of people saying “Willis & Wade’s private life has nothing to do with the Trump case” and shouldn’t cause either of them for being removed from the prosecution. As you said, this is first year ethics class stuff and a hypothetical such as this might very will be on a first year exam. Anyone that reads the GA State Bar Rules* which cover such conflicts can see that there are rules written to address just such situations.

The judge in this case went to UGA Law and probably had either Ron Ellington or Lonnie Brown for Ethics and Professionalism. Both Professor Ellington and Professor Brown was super super strict about ethics and professionalism matters. I can’t believe the judge would just let the actions of Willis and Wade slide and rule their actions had no bearing on the case.

“Did her boyfriend write that motion? Probably?”

They are too stupid to write a good opinion. It was released yesterday Soros has hired law firms to help write her opinions and determine who to charge and on what charges.

The DOJ is in cahoots with Soros which is up to their necks in it.

If the judicial system in Georgia is as corrupt as the one in Arizona, the DA’s request will be granted.

There are rumors that Willis and Wade have outside (and undisclosed) attorneys assisting them with their motions and pleadings in the Trump case because neither of them are sufficiently knowledgeable of the law or have the legal writing skills to prepare the documents on their own. They prefer trying the case in the media because they aren’t experienced enough to try it in the Courts. That is a problem that comes up when you hire on DEI principles instead of merit.

She hires her boyfriend who was an ambulance chaser NOT a prosecutor (no experience prosecuting cases) to go after POTUS. They get directions from the White House for this effort to steal yet another election.

Then when someone (ex-wife of the cheating husband who claims to be broke) that Fani and the bf used public money to go on cruises and trips... it’s “blackmail”?

Someone pointing out a crime (theft of public services) took place is now unethical?

What a joke these morons are. The DOJ / Dem legal machine is funding this lawfare against Trump and doing the thinking.

They should have thought to get a competent prosecutor. Whole case should be tossed out.

Ethics in the legal profession? Who would have known?

It would actually be AWESOME if the "judge" let it slide.

It would be more confirmation that the law is in the mouths of the feces-eating scum that pretend to be judges in these Uinted States.
