Whether it’s food production, transportation, building, or anything else, because leftists take it for granted and misunderstand it, they’re trying to tear it all down.
I’ve always been a fan of the prosperity created by Western civilization in general and the United States in particular. Indeed, I even created a website called Gratitude for America, where I write about American entrepreneurs who invented things like barbed wire and standardized shipping containers. But maybe there’s a downside to this prosperity because we’ve created a class of people (especially in government) completely disconnected from how the world actually works.
Cyrus McCormick, who invented the mechanical reaper, is the most important entrepreneur in human history. He basically untethered mankind from farming, one of the most dangerous occupations on earth. In 1831, when he invented the mechanical reaper, approximately 80% of the American population was involved in agriculture, and, in most places in the world, it was higher—in some cases, 95%.
SNIP
The reason those elites, the ones who seek to manipulate the public, get away with it is because a significant portion of the population believes them. And they believe them because of the division of labor-driven prosperity that McCormick unleashed.
Virtually the entire left in this country has zero connection with anything having to do with creating anything, growing anything, building anything, or risking anything. They spend their days pushing paper in offices or selling cappuccinos, if they work at all. Not only are few of them farmers, but few are truckers, lumberjacks, steel workers, plumbers, electricians, or entrepreneurs. Few have ever had to balance paying a credit card bill versus making payroll. Few ever risked their money and invested sweat equity to start a business.

‘disconnected’?
Maybe, more like ‘ignorant of how things work’. THAT describes every Liberal I know.
Even at work, they knew their specific little realm of ‘work’, but you couldn’t ever ask them a question about something unrelated to their job.
Most of them think that if they heard about something 10 minutes ago, it makes them the new global authority!
From the Article - Thomas Jefferson understood the problem, saying in 1824: “I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.” That is 2024 incarnate.
PARASITES = Democrats = Liberals = Marxists = Especially ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!!!!
GO TEXAS !!!!
“Perhaps only those who pay taxes should vote. Perhaps government employees should not be allowed to vote. Maybe we make election day the day after Tax Day.”
All great suggestions. The left would bleat about “disenfranchisement” and rend their clothes. The media would love it. I say we do it anyway. Why should one who does not contribute have a say in how things are run?
Young people are being taught in schools by those who have no idea how things work. It is amazing how, in a few short years, America has become suicidal by ignorance.
We are on the threshold of the reckoning when this ignorance could eliminate a large part of the American population. Those who cannot do anything worthwhile will perish.
This needs to be fixed. How we do that, I’m not quite sure, but, at a minimum, we need to slash government spending and regulations at every level. Perhaps only those who pay taxes should vote. Perhaps government employees should not be allowed to vote. Maybe we make election day the day after Tax Day. Whatever the solution, until those voting have some vested interest in a well-run government and a functioning economy, things will only get worse, and they’re already pretty bad.
American ‘exceptionalism’ is anathema to Liberals. They insist we are one entire mass of undifferentiated ‘being’.
It’s why they try so hard to reduce society to a uniform wasteland of ‘classless’, mindless sameness.
In our thinking and conduct… in our perceptions of ourselves and of each other, they force us to have no expectation of anything different or unique for ourselves in our work or lives.
You've almost got it (as does the author, almost). Watch all that amazing production and realize how much of it is directed from the top by the likes of Blackrock and Vanguard. Think of their cut, and they're not stupid lazy people either.
Then realize that those Marxist teachers were ALL taught in a tightly-controlled system of teachers' colleges cooked up by... the Rockefellers, Carnegies, Fords... people who want to stay on top by making sure the system produces people who will willingly keep them there. The mechanism is social democracy, whereby the regulatory system is populated by yet more stupid drones delivering the goodies, picking winners and losers for Blackrock, Vanguard, Rockefellers Carnegies, Fords, Zuckerberg... etc.
This is fascism and it's going global. As automation kills jobs, the ranks of dependants swell. There will be no escape unless the people kill voter fraud. Else, those Democrat bureaucrats will count the ballots to their hearts' content.
That’s right.
I think a total lack of intellectual curiosity is partly to blame. It’s easy to be an ignorant, progressive, all you have to do is say the proper things and you’re good. You won’t be challenged; in fact, your stupidity is often times rewarded. I have such people in my family. The know nothing but have great jobs. Ask them where the electricity comes from to charge their Tesla (Yes, they own a Tesla) and they will tell from the charger. Ask them where the charger gets it, and they’ll tell you from the electric company. Go one step further and they will tell you from wind and solar or go deer in the headlights. Same thing with the food they eat. And don’t ask them to fix anything, there are people for that (And the sense is, that in their eyes, those people are, you know, not quite at their level.)
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Here is something from the book DOCTOR ZHIVAGO...
Yurii’s talk with Pogorevshikh on the train to Moscow...
Part 2, chapter 5: 16
Imperturbable as an oracle, he prophesied disastrous
upheavals in the near future. Yurii Andreievich inwardly agreed
that this was not unlikely, but the calm, authoritative tone in
which this unpleasant boy was making his forecasts angered
him.
“Just a moment,” he said hesitantly. “True, all this may happen.
But it seems to me that with all that’s going on — the chaos, the
disintegration, the pressure from the enemy — this is not the
moment to start dangerous experiments. The country must be
allowed to recover from one upheaval before plunging into
another. We must wait till at least relative peace and order are
restored.”
“That’s naive,” said Pogorevshikh. “What you call disorder is
just as normal a state of things as the order you’re so keen
about. All this destruction — it’s a natural and preliminary stage
of a broad creative plan. Society has not yet disintegrated
sufficiently. It must fall to pieces completely then a genuinely
revolutionary government will put the pieces together and build
on completely new foundations.”
The lefties are the Khmer rouge of this generation. They want to destroy anything that is good and productive.
While this is no doubt true, I doubt ignorance plays much into their deliberate destruction of our country.
Horrible people like the education establishment, Zuckerberg, Black Rock, etc., who are modern day globalist fascists who have co-opted the time honored tradition of wealthy philanthropy, so as to promote their sick version of globalism, communism, and micromanagement of normals.
In other words, don't blame Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Ford, who are all spinning in their graves at 7000 rpm, because their worthless heirs and other parasites have gone into their foundations and rendered them rotten and communist, inside and out.
A company on How It's Made that is privately held and makes potato salad in Ontario hardly fits into the Blackrock category. Most of the companies on the show are making springs, snowshoes, or nickel-plated screws.
You really don't understand that history. I suggest you start with Paolo Lionni's book, The Leipzig Connection.
Max Mason, President of the Rockefeller Foundation in his 1934 annual report indicated that the Foundation's goal was to CONTRTOL ALL HUMAN BEHAVIOR. The goal was propulation control. The purpose was to protect the environment, about which they were dead wrong. There was a lot worse that they did back then I will not divulge right now (heavily footnoted book in progress) that is directly responsible for our current social meltdown, and that was the intent.
Yes I guess I don’t know it. Will read that book. Thanks.
