Are we worse at Moon landings than 50 years ago?
BBC ^

Posted on 02/04/2024 3:29:14 PM PST by nickcarraway

Japan's Moon lander ended up on its nose when it made its historic touchdown on the lunar surface. A US lunar lander has "no chance" of making a soft landing on the Moon due to a fuel leak.

We've set foot on the Moon multiple times. So why all the recent mission failures?

Ham radio operators heard the propaganda broadcasts.

Lol.

"Therefore we faked it [the moon landing] and killed whistleblower Gus Grissom to keep him quiet. "

Grissom died a year before the Moon landing ... your tinfoil hat needs upgrading.

Before Apollo 1's planned launch on February 21, 1967, the Command Module interior caught fire and burned on January 27, 1967, during a pre-launch test on Launch Pad 34 at Cape Kennedy ... The Apollo spacecraft problems were corrected, with Apollo 7, commanded by Wally Schirra, launched on October 11, 1968, more than a year after the Apollo 1 accident - wiki

Where do you get this stuff, do you just make int up on the fly?

SLIM (Japan) was intended to be a dart throw, testing precision landing at a pre-ordained target +/-330ft and it nailed it. But Shioli crater is a litterbox and one leg slipped at landing and it went a-- over t--. Fairly foresightful to put two mini-LEVs aboard, and overall you have to categorize SLIM as a win.

Peregrine otoh was a complete fail, although they could have crashed it into the moon but wisely sent it to the Pt. Nemo graveyard. Reads like quality control issues and/or engineering failures:

"Photographs taken by the spacecraft showed damage to external insulation, perhaps caused by a valve that failed to fully close, causing the oxidizer tank to rupture"

The biggest advantage they have is they won’t care if some astronauts die in failed attempts.

If they do, no one will ever learn about it, other then an other purge of the Rocket Forces brass.

Ask Gus Grissom’s wife and son. Don’t you know anything about the incident other than “official narrative”?

Why would they? And what difference does that make to your bogus claims. More tinfoil, please!

The Chinese could go that way—or they could go the martyr route—or hide it until they had success and then put out the martyr story.

This is new to them—so we will have to see how they play it.

I have been looking around trying to find an objective discussion of this topic and can’t find one—everybody seems to have an axe to grind.

This is the calmest and fairest article I could find:

https://spacenews.com/china-sets-out-clear-and-independent-long-term-vision-for-space/

However it does not directly address the question of how China will deal with space casualties.

Any such negative story would reflect badly on the CCP, something which is never permitted, later success or not.

You missed the point.

They had to come from the Moon. That’s what 1 degree of beamwidth means.

Hey, C.O., yours seems like a good launching point for my “old angry white guy” opinion:

Public schools? I agree with you. Kids are no longer taught to think.* They can’t do math in their heads. They depend on a computer to give them the answers, and don’t know when it looks right or not. When Apollo went to the moon, they checked the computer calculations (which someone on the team programmed) with SLIDE RULES. They had to THINK. The engineers had more faith in their own heads than they did in computers. For Pete’s sake, Neil Armstrong had to decide to ignore the LM computer warnings and take over manually to land!

*A few years ago, I tutored a high-schooler in Physics. He was terribly confused by his text book. The book had taken every situation possible and spoon-fed an equation for each type of problem. They figured it was easier for the kids to memorize which one of the two dozen equations to use instead of understanding the situations.

I explained the basics, and showed him that all the equations in the book were taken from FOUR laws of motion, and if he knew those four, he could solve them for what he needed. The light bulb went off and he went to the Naval Academy.

Lol.

The propaganda came from planet Earth.

I give NASA and the Deep State credit. They are outstanding at brainwashing the masses.

When it is your time to see through the fakery you will see it—and not before then.

No, it’s actually great. Especially now that I can see the many lies we have been fed since my childhood during Vietnam. Nothing surprises me any longer. Are you ready for coming alien ruse?

" Are you ready for coming alien ruse?"

So, they won't be scorched by their transit through the "high cosmic radiation levels" Van Allen belts? Conundrum! LOFL!

You actually believe X Day would gain any traction against the Kansas City Swifties?

Why do you get like this every three months or so? Is there an alien moose moving your cheese?

Read some Arthur C. Clarke, more particularly Clarke's Third Law, then shove your head back up your butt and get some sleep. You need rest.
