I've been forced to declare my Range Rover off road and sell it for a £15,000 loss after insurers quoted me £890 a MONTH - extortionate premiums are destroying lives

A Range Rover Velar owner says she has had to declare her car off road and will be forced to sell it at a loss of about £15,000 after insurers quoted her £890 a month.

Kirsten Lijeskic, 38, says she got the £56,000 wheels in September 2022 and had been paying £130 a month insurance for her and her husband with Acorn.

But now Kirsten, who lives in Winchmore Hill, north London, says Acorn will not renew their insurance with them and the car's own manufacturer also allegedly told her it 'cannot provide a quote'.

She says the cheapest quote they can find is for £890 a month with Go Girl which they cannot afford and is 'ludicrous'.

As a result, the part-time PA for an investment bank in the city says they will have to sell the car they have 'worked hard their whole lives for' - and at a loss of thousands of pounds.

Kirsten has told MailOnline people like her are being 'punished' and lives are being 'destroyed' as she raised concerns about Range Rover's security protections.

It comes after it was reported last year that Range Rovers are suffering large price drops as their owners struggle to get them insured.

Data from the DVLA in May revealed the Range Rover Velar R-Dyn was the most sought out car by criminals, with two in every 100 of the model stolen.

Land Rover was dubbed the most stolen brand, with 924 stolen per 100,000 in the 12 months to March 2023. It also made up six of the top ten most stolen car models overall.

Agree, there is no shortage of people who were arrested, imprisoned, and freed, only to do great damage to humanity, starting with Hitler.

I suspect that one of the reasons the Soviet Union survived as long as it did was their ‘permanent’ method of purging anyone who was getting too powerful. And, sadly, one of reasons the West’s days are numbered is because our governments do just the opposite (other than for Trump supporters).

I see you’re getting some grief for this comment, but I agree. If the car weren’t financed, they could drop comprehensive coverage and it would probably be affordable; but obviously they financed (couldn’t afford cash) and are stuck. I pay $29 a month to cover three cars but can only do so because I paid cash for all of them.

Bukele locked up 70,000 hardened gang members in El Salvador; about 200 of them were killed by other gang members last year while incarcerated. So its about like the streets of Chicago; when Bukele took office, the gangs gave him the finger by slaughtering 70 innocent civilians in a single day, including a bus driver who supported seven children. Bukele gave the Army and police unfettered power to shut them down including public humiliation and El Salvador is now a peaceful, livable country. We need him as mayor of Chicago, DC or San Francisco.

Imagine the insurance rates in the cities in the US if rural areas didn’t subsidize them.

Generally car insurance rates are set by county.

At least the car insurance I have been with.

Is that for the vehicle or the tire?

Unimog tire are from $690 each at expedition Imports to over $1200 each elsewhere, Michelins over $2,000 each.

U 404 Unimogs like mine can be had for $10,000 to $35,000 depending on condition and accessories.

U1300L Unimogs like mine are from $45,000 to $225,000 or more depending on condition and accessories.

Some models set up for overland travel can be as much as $2,000,000.

Do what I did and make some money if you want one.

Bring cash, nobody finances these in the USA to my knowledge.

Yes I agree about Hitler and Russia.

Trump supporters are just the example to everyone of what can happen when the powerful are crossed.

” It’s no secret that a Land Rover is a POS”

What a timely article. I was having a couple beers with my buddy yesterday when his Nephew stopped by. He is an Auto Mechanic and has worked for a few different Auto Dealers over the last 15 years. Currently he works for a Land Rover Dealership. He drove up in a newish Land Rover but kept the motor running when he got out of it. He explained the car had a parasitic drain on the battery and it was his job to try to track down which module was drawing down the battery. He had one of the portable jump start units and had to use it four times already just this last weekend. He confirmed your statement. POS Cars.

This surgeon I worked with had a wife who insisted on getting a Rover. I did all I could to dissuade him. A year later he was outside the dealership with other unhappy customers picketing the place. Every week in the O.R. he had another story of woe.
