True, but that doesn’t change the fact that Mann is a liar and lousy scientist who phony-facted data to support his bogus claims and that’s how he will be remembered after they all are proven to be bullshite through the lens of history.
If pointing out error or willful fraud in a scientific paper is “defamation”, then science is dead.
The whole point of open science is to do just that: anyone who has either written a paper or defended a dissertation has been through it. The criticism is open and hostile and is supposed to be.
Mann can’t take the heat so he runs to a court. How about refute Steyn’s comments with your own results? Nope, can’t do that. The results don’t support it. Oops.

As a scientist, the first time I heard the phrase "listen to the science" it was like listening to the screetch of chalk on a blackboard. You never get used to it. That the entire scientific establishment was not in open rebellion tells you how diseased the scientific establishment is.

It’s the basic nature of Leftists that “believing is seeing,” instead of the proper “seeing is believing.” It comes from convincing themselves they are so wonderfully bright, and that if they simply think something is true, then it must be.
