For instance, natural gas generation is double that of nuclear in the U.S. No shocker there. If you recall during the Obama years the EPA forced a lot of power companies to shut down some of their coal plants and switch then to "clean burning natural gas" fueled plants. This was when the Dims thought of nat gas as the way to save us from our carbon sins. Of course, a few years later the Dims are punishing us for using nat gas.
That's what prompted me to install a bunch of solar and try to be more energy self-reliant.

Yup. Toyota was the Toast of the Town when they had a hit with the Prius. Now, hybrids are not good enough and Toyota is slammed for not keeping up with the times.
Back in the '70s, United Illuminating electric utility in Connecticut was told to switch from coal to oil for pollution reasons. When the oil embargo hit they were told to go back to coal. UI's response was, "pick one, and stick with it."

You’re way ahead on the curve on energy self-reliance. And you’ve shown that your moves have been prudent.
Next week we’re moving into a modern apartment in the my city of Japan. We live in a 20 year old building now — earthquake proof, but a little too cramped.
The new place has some interesting electric changes which I hope to share once I get all the facts straight.
