Rob Gronkowski Asked the Worst Question During FOX Halftime Show

Rob Gronkowski asked a very embarrassing question during FOX’s halftime show on Sunday.

Gronk was part of FOX’s crew covering the pregame, halftime and postgame shows for the NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

During halftime, the rock band Journey, which was founded in San Francisco, put on a performance.

According to FOX’s other personalities, Gronk asked “who’s Journey?” upon learning they were putting on the halftime show.

Howie Long indicated that despite not knowing the name of the band, Gronk claimed to at least recognize the song “Don’t Stop Believin'” as it was being played.

“I know this song. I know this song!” Gronk apparently exclaimed upon hearing the song.

The admission from Gronk, as related by FOX’s crew, left many online users in disbelief.

Journey has had six songs that reached the Billboard top 10, including two No. 1 hits. They have sold over 100 million records globally.

Here is their most famous song — Don’t Stop Believin’.

And here is my favorite Journey song – “Any Way You Want It.”

Get with the program, Gronk!

Without Steve Perry, it ain’t Journey, it’s a Journey Tribute Band.

Journey’s peak was before Gronk was born. Unless he’s a fan of oldies, he doesn’t know their music. And personally, I have never liked Journey.

Thanks, I had never heard of this guy before. I actually went on to listen to his critique of Boston’s, More Than a Feeling, one of my all time favorite songs, and at one point the music gave me chills. Music is a very personal thing, you like what you like and ignore the naysayers.

Don’t feel bad, Gronk...I’ve never heard a Taylor Swift song, either...

I know a lot about rock bands and popular rock songs but I did not know until now that people were expected to know them.

I actually thought they’d be worth a lot more. After all, I have heard “Don’t Stop Believing” at least 10,000 times since the early 1980s and they had many other hits as well.

Beato is great at dissecting music, not just rock. I never liked Journey when I was a young metal head in the 80s (my peers and I always called it "wet panty rock") until I saw them live at one of the "Rock Super Bowls" at the old Tangerine bowl in Orlando. Always four big rock groups for about 15 a ticket, getting there early for festival seating, waiting for the gate to open so you could get close to the stage. This particular concert had Bryan Adams, Sammy Hagar, Aerosmith (sans Joe Perry), and Journey as the headliner. It was there where 16 year old cport's music appreciation expanded when I realized that great guitar was not exclusive with metal. Neil Schon blew my mind. The fine herb my buddy brought probably helped too 😜.

As an aside, is your screen name a Beastie Boys song reference?

When Carlos Santana hires you to be a guitarist at the age of 17, you know you’re damn good.

Listen to Neal’s solo on “Everybody’s Everything” from Santana III.
