Personally, I love the 757 as it is one of the safest aircraft on record.

“Yes, Boeing has had its issues recently, but I’m getting sick and tired of headline writers blaming every single maintenance issue on the fact that the airplane was a Boeing.”

Agree, Boeing hasn’t built a 757 in some 20 years. Unless Boeing had their DEI hands on it recently, I don’t see how one can blame them for this one.

Question for everyone...

Are there really more of these faulty aircraft issues, or are they just being reported more?

Seems to me in the past there were a lot more plane crashes than today, especially given how many air miles are now flown globally. Many of those plane crash from yesteryear came down to maintenance and structural issues, worn parts, etc.

When you are on your way to Bogota and something falls off your nose, it seems a thorough investigation is in order.

The right nose tire came off because the axle broke. The axle is a hollow tube that passes thru the vertical leg of the nose landing gear assembly. The right nose tire was installed more than 30 days prior to the incident, so it wasn’t because of improper tire/wheel replacement. The wheel bearings didn’t fail, so it looks like possibly metal fatigue of the axle tube.

I'd be curious to know when was the last A&P inspection and where was it performed.

If we find out Achmed was the guy in charge of checking/bolting those window/doors, or servicing on the wheel crew . . . . . (gott'a stop right here . . . I'm too old to be carted off to prison)

Let’s ask Nikki Haley about this... maybe she can help.

She was on the BOD of Boeing, should know all about issues with Boeing.

Nor can we completely eliminate the possibility of sabotage. Really easy to create a catastrophe with a simple act of loosening up some bolts. It was fortunate to have happened just before takeoff.

We have had increasingly safe aviation the last few decades. Between these maintenance or mechanical issues, there have been close calls involving runway incursions or near collisions lately. Too many things seem to be going awry. I hope it is nothing but more media attention...
