He was providing aid and comfort (using the American terms), to Ukraines enemies, while Ukraine was at war. All that while residing in Ukraine.
He was imprisoned, and then was released on bail.
He could easily have shut up for the duration, and would then probably have been quietly deported.
But he kept on on badmouthing Ukraine, while in Ukraine, which is at war with G.Liras friends, so of course he was jailed again.
The Ukrainian government was very accomodating, seeing as it is a country at war. Ukraine behaved honorably given the circumstances. The US, Britain and France were no kinder in WW2 to that sort of person.
Wars are expensive.
Your complaints would have applied just as well to US policy in 1940-41, given the vast material and financial aid the US was providing the Allies (eventually), while maintaining neutrality.
The same types, just like you, resurfaced during the Cold War.
I dont know if these characters eventually changed their minds or just mutated.

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for January 21, 2024…
- As Ukraine and its Western sponsors continue losing the conflict strategically, Ukraine continues conducting military operations to win public relations victories;
- Ukrainian drone strikes on St. Petersburg and a Russian oil depot inflicted no tactically or strategically significant damage;
- Such strikes have demonstratably only galvanized the Russian population further behind Moscow and are admittedly aimed at encouraging the Ukrainian population to remain invested in the conflict;
- The US government has claimed that without further financial aid, Ukraine will decisively lose the conflict, omitting the fact that even with additional financial resources, the arms and ammunition Ukraine needs does not exist to be purchased and transferred to Ukraine in the first place;
- France has urged arms manufacturers to boost output, claiming to have switched to a “war economy mode,” despite the necessary prerequisites to do so not being met and France being unable to boost output without huge investments in both money measured in billions, and time measured in years;
- The fate of a Russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft continues to remain at the center of Western commentary, specifically because of a lack of strategically significant developments in Ukraine’s favor on the battlefield. The fact that Western media admits the allegedly destroyed plane has already been replaced reveals how insignificant the incident is;
- The Western media continues promoting narratives of heavy Russian losses around Avdeevka, identical to narratives that preceded the fall of Bakhmut to Russian forces last year;
- While such narratives are meant to depict Russia as weak and failing, the relentless tidal wave of men and equipment would not be possible unless Russia possessed vastly superior means of raising manpower and military industrial output;

The scale of the Ukraine-Russia war and what’s at stake for us isn’t at all comparable to the threat America faced during World War II.

None of Britains enemies posed a realistic threat to the US in 1940-41. The US could have remained unconcerned and neutral as the Allies, and China, burned.
It was aid to the Allies and China that put the US in the crosshairs. Pearl Harbor was the result of the desperate dilemma that Roosevelts economic pressure put Japan into.
But the current bad guys do pose serious threats.
I suggest that it is the unregulated hostility of the response she is getting that is causing these problems.
Peace will come if you guys just avoided these threads.
There is “America-loving” and ... those who put on that skin, let us say.

2. I posted a phrase Ukrainians state around the world since 1918. Similar to the U.S. statement “God Bless America.” I saw it as the glory of God be shown.”

4. Many Freepers, as well as students, appreciate my research although some hold a differing point of view.
And again, I fully support everyone to equally share freedom of thought and freedom of speech. You might notice I do not denigrate others for their viewpoint. I may offer an alternative comment with support from an article or video... or just ignore.
5. I truly am sorry there is friction between us.
I receive enough positive comments, even from those that hold alternative views that overrides the negative from a few that are prone to comment negatively.
Hopefully, this new year we will share be a more positive experience for us.
