Best guesses on that thread is that it is not really radiation related, but the radiation story is to keep eyes away from something else they don’t want seen.

My guess is that it has something to do with the RADAR facilities to the north (Bucholz AAF is on the southernmost island of the atoll). “Electromagnetic” radiation is different than “ionizing”” radiation.

My take as well Porkchop - they just had a bunch of new equipment installed - I think anti-ICBM related, but not gotten into the weeds on it. But most likely this is about EM radiation.
