That’s actually what the article says/concludes. There are multiple paragraphs at the end indicating a low or no carb, high fat diet puts diabetes in remission.
Great read!
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan:
‘It isn’t so much that doctors are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.’
Remember this with all of your doctors. Sanity check them, but that requires some study and/or potentially getting second opinions.
Doctors are only human, just like everyone else.
The article actually states that the problem is with not abiding by studies that were done to effectively disprove keto diets, but have consistently confirmed those are the only ways to put diabetes into remission.
Read through to the end.
Diabetes puts all of these individuals at increased risk of heart disease, strokes, cancer, blindness, kidney failure, nerve damage, gangrene, and lower limb amputation. It increases cognitive impairment and dementia risk as patients age. Living with diabetes still comes with a decrease in life expectancy of six years."
A lot of it but certainly not all of it due to increased obesity.
Scary.
For type 2, cut all sugars and all carbs out of your diet, intermittent fasting at 14-16 hours of no eating (one meal window per day), keep hydrated with no sugar or carbs in what you’re drinking, and keep your calories around 1,000 a day for as long as it takes to get your weight down to where you prefer to be. Takes me little time to drop significant weight.
Once at your desired weight, keep your carbs reasonable, stay away from sugar as much as you can, and do some occasional intermittent fasting and you should be able to keep your weight stable and steady.
Works for me.
That is correct, but you won’t hear that from any nutritionist or most doctors.
They have their jobs to protect.
“Why is so much of what the medical system believes not based on science?”
In the case of diabetes, they didn’t have the science. They had insulin, but no way to measure its levels in the human body. They also knew that Type 1’s had no insulin because they needed injections to be kept alive (even eating virtually no carbs won’t do the trick forever, for Type 1’s).
So, for Type 2’s, they figured the same - no insulin in their bodies (again, they couldn’t measure, so they were forced to assume no insulin). So they prescribed the same - insulin shots
Then, finally, they could measure insulin (1970s), and found they were dead wrong regarding Type 2’s, as their bodies were flooded with insulin (compared to healthy people), at least in their early stages of elevated blood glucose. Type 2 diabetes is actually the human body’s cells being unable to properly use insulin to process glucose...so more and more is needed (called Insulin Resistance).
This should have caused them to re-assess everything regarding Type 2’s, but then that would have meant huge numbers of doctors telling their patients that they were wrong...and doctors don’t seem able to do that, and of course big-pharma was making big-bucks by then.
So now what? Well it’s been a decade, at least, since word in the underground was that cutting carbs is always the right thing to do if you have diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), and cutting carbs enough can even take off insulin and sometimes off all meds.
But now we have a new problem, thanks to the Left (of course), which is their war on meat. If you don’t eat carbs, you’re pretty much stuck with meat (if you have half a brain)...and the goal of our masters is to end the consumption of meat, particularly red meat (the healthiest type for all people, particularly diabetics).
So, guess what, nothing will change...they will not let that happen, as the ‘planet’ is more important to them.
“I think Big Pharma would rather we eat like we want and just take more meds to fix the insulin issue.”
True regarding Big Pharma, but high-dosing insulin doesn’t fix the issue, just masks it. People still get the same diabetic complications, at the same rate, even when they ‘control’ their blood sugar, using large amounts of insulin.
“The other thing I notice is that they keep defining down High Blood Pressure from where it used to be. It couldn’t possible be to get more people of BP medication, could it?”
I don’t think they’ve changed the definition of diabetes, but yes, they certainly changed the definition of BP - definite money grab as they don’t have any evidence behind that change (as far as I know).
Very low carb is how I went from pre-diabetes to 5.4 A1C ie no diabetes.
I’m still no diabetes
“ Why is so much of what the medical system believes not based on science?”
Because that’s not what the “medical system “ is about.
It’s about making its controllers, practitioners and suppliers wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.
“That is correct, but you won’t hear that from any nutritionist or most doctors. They have their jobs to protect.”
That is the problem - they are TOLD what they must say to keep their jobs and their insurance. And it all flows down from our friends in the US Government (since they cannot be sued), which Big Pharma now owns.
Encourage people to eat high carb diets that make them obese and trigger Type 2 diabetes.
Then instead of having them lose weight, give them drugs to *control* it.
15 years ago that was me, a carb addict, and everything got worse.
My wife was the lead RN in a busy family practice. They had inherited several Italian families after their long time docs retired or whatever..
Most were very healthy and many were in their 80’s+. They had certain things in common. They loved their families and work. Their food intake was basically a Med. diet, and spread over the day with no big meals and free snacking.
No one was on a diet or any statin type of drug. Wine at a moderate level was with their lunches and dinners.
My wife about 12 years ago went to 2-3 day work week. She started me on the Italian way of eating. Now that would be called a Med/Mind diet. She and her former boss call it the Italian way to live.
Many if not most had a kitchen counter or small table in the dining room with fresh fruit, veggies and whatever was fresh
like our local persimmons the past couple of months.
All of my so called lab levels returned to so called normal levels. I lost about 15 pounds and have maintained those levels without really trying.
I had developed a FIB along the way and had a stent put in about 3 years ago.
I’m 85 and in a good condition.
My wife weighs a little less than when we got married 62 years ago.
I was idly watching a YouTube travel vid, and noticed easily 80% or more of virtually everyone in the informal group was overweight, obese, or close to morbidly obese. I suppose that’s because the latter group doesn’t to on travel tours.
Also watch a lot of older vids. Nary a fatty to be seen. Where did all the fat people come from??
bookmark.
One biggie is the office work we do now. The Navy had an issue when they used to load coal into the ship to keep them powered. So they did studies and they needed to eat like 3000-4000 calories a day to maintain their weight.
Well then they went diesel and nuke and never changed the menu. THey all got fat. So they eventually changed the menu. But still I know a lot of fatties in the Navy.
I just ate a good sized chicken breast, melted butter over it, and a good portion of brussel sprouts with mustard and a little Mayo. Later, I will snack on walnuts. That is an example of how I control my glucose levels. Eat at noon, Dinner at 6PM... no more eating after. It works

Sounds good! I guess it’s a little late to come by for some. 🤣
