Encourage people to eat high carb diets that make them obese and trigger Type 2 diabetes.
Then instead of having them lose weight, give them drugs to *control* it.
15 years ago that was me, a carb addict, and everything got worse.
My wife was the lead RN in a busy family practice. They had inherited several Italian families after their long time docs retired or whatever..
Most were very healthy and many were in their 80’s+. They had certain things in common. They loved their families and work. Their food intake was basically a Med. diet, and spread over the day with no big meals and free snacking.
No one was on a diet or any statin type of drug. Wine at a moderate level was with their lunches and dinners.
My wife about 12 years ago went to 2-3 day work week. She started me on the Italian way of eating. Now that would be called a Med/Mind diet. She and her former boss call it the Italian way to live.
Many if not most had a kitchen counter or small table in the dining room with fresh fruit, veggies and whatever was fresh
like our local persimmons the past couple of months.
All of my so called lab levels returned to so called normal levels. I lost about 15 pounds and have maintained those levels without really trying.
I had developed a FIB along the way and had a stent put in about 3 years ago.
I’m 85 and in a good condition.
My wife weighs a little less than when we got married 62 years ago.
