Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone call with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Alicia Bárcena.
The Head of the President’s Office highly appreciated Mexico’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and expressed particular gratitude for the resumption of operations of the Mexican Embassy in Kyiv.
“These steps turn a new page in the bilateral relations between the countries,” emphasized Andriy Yermak.
The interlocutors discussed preparations for the next meeting of national security and foreign policy advisors to the heads of state, which will be devoted to implementing the points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and will take place in January in Switzerland. The Head of the President’s Office invited Mexican representatives to take part in this meeting, as well as in the Global Peace Summit.
Special attention during the conversation was paid to ways of intensifying relations between Ukraine and Latin America.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has expressed his gratitude to Western partners for providing the air defense systems that have shot down a record number of Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, stressing that Ukraine needs more effective anti-ballistic weapons, as there is no reason to assume that Russia will stop.
“On January 2, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine downed 10 out of 10 Russian Kinzhal Kh-47M2 aeroballistic missiles with the help of the Patriot air defense system. This is a record. If the missiles hit their targets, the consequences would be catastrophic.
Thanks to the partners for air defense system. There is no reason to believe that the enemy will stop here. Therefore, we need more systems and ammunition for them.”
Without advanced Western-provided air-defense capabilities, the Russian attack might have been more devastating. That would represent an impressive achievement for Ukraine and serve as a reminder that the Russian missile, which Kremlin leadership has touted as unbeatable, isn’t the wonder weapon they advertise it as. The KH-47M2 Kinzhal is an advanced air-launched ballistic missile originally announced in 2018 address by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United States has found no evidence of misuse of weapons provided to Ukraine and are continuing to work hard to assure Congress and the American people that all assistance is used for its intended purpose.
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was stated by the coordinator of the US National Security Council, John Kirby.
“We have not seen any indication that this (accountability in Ukraine - Ed.) is not the case, or that there is widespread corruption or abuse by the Ukrainian army,” Kirby said.
He stressed that the US side is directly interacting with the Ukrainian side on accountability in this matter. To this end, US experts are working in Kyiv.
“The Ukrainians understand our need for accountability. They share that, and they’ve made it clear that they’re willing to work with us on accountability measures for all the systems that are provided,” Kirby said.

During the exchange of prisoners of war today, 3 January, Marine Halyna Fedyshyn, who defended Mariupol, returned home to Ukraine. She was the last of the female marines to be held in captivity.
According to Censor.NET, the commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, Serhii Volynskyi (Volyn), wrote about this on Facebook.
He said: “Each of them has traveled a path that few people can imagine. They have suffered many losses, but they have not lost their spirit! Their return is not just a joyful event, it is a symbol of the invincible spirit of our nation.
Halyna Fedyshyn, the last girl marine to be captured, is at home! She went through the difficult path of defending Mariupol, Ilyich plant, Azovstal and hellish captivity...
