A black and gay Republican influencer shared a video showing what he described as "White Supremacists" shouting slurs at him.

Rob Smith, an Army veteran, shared the video on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday. Smith said the incident occurred in Phoenix, where he and other conservatives gathered for Turning Point USA's AmericaFest, a four-day event that runs through Tuesday.

I don’t hate gays, I pity them. And while I appreciate the conservative support, I believe it is a slippery slope to embrace them as fellow conservatives, when in fact, they are not true conservatives. I know there are FReepers who are fiscal conservatives only, or conservatives in many ways except when it comes to moral or social matters. So, call me narrow minded, but as a conservative Christian, embracing gays is a bridge too far. Some of them consider themselves Christians, and perhaps the ones who are trying to fight against their sin of homosexuality are, but those who are out and proud are not Christians, no matter what they say. And, no, you don’t have to be a Christian to be a conservative, but a true conservative has almost the same values as a Christian. IMHO

Like you said: HIGHLY SUSPCIOUS, even the reporting of it, and the supposed attendees of the TPUSA event who break out chanting in unison with racial & homophobic slurs. His smirking through the whole encounter also raises suspicions.

But by design not enough information to make an informed assessment at all. For that reason, I fully reject it until I can see more evidence.

A Black podcaster was bombarded with numerous slurs on Sunday night while attending a high-profile conservative conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rob Smith, a gay conservative and podcast host, shared video to X on Monday showing a group of young men chanting a homophobic slur at him the evening prior outside the event.

“Last night in Phoenix, I was confronted and surrounded by some White Supremacists that don’t like gays or blacks in the Republican Party,” Smith said. “They shouted ‘n****r’ and ‘f****t’ at me to make their point. However, I served in Iraq. I never back down. Ever.”

In a statement to the Daily Dot, TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet pointed out that the incident had taken place outside of the Phoenix Convention Center.

“This did not occur at our event and if it had, these individuals would have been promptly removed,” he said.
