Part of a six-story building crumbled to the ground in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, resulting in a scene of destruction with a pile of rubble below.
The apartment complex in the Morris Heights neighborhood partially collapsed around 3.30pm.
Photos of the scene showed the bare walls of several units completely exposed.
A ground-level shed at the foot of the building was surrounded by a heap of sheet metal, bricks, concrete and metal rods.
Rescue crews equipped with police dogs responded at the scene of the collapsed building, searching for residents who may still be trapped inside.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams praised the quick response of the emergency services who were on scene within 96 seconds.
Video showed a corner of the six-story building with its walls sheared off and floors sagging, and a heap of rubble spilling out into the street.
A search dog plied the pile of debris which included twisted and jumbled metal, apparently from scaffolding that had stood around part of the building.
A portrait hanging on the wall was visible in one of the apartments; in another, what appeared to be a bed stood feet away from the unprotected edge of the floor.
Elsewhere, an armchair rested on a floor that tilted precariously down, like the top of a staved-in box.
Firefighters could be seen shining bright lights into apartment windows from high ladders.
At least one drone could also be seen hovering feet away from where the wall had fallen into the street.
Firefighters carted away rubble in buckets and used circular saws to cut through the collapsed scaffolding. But then firefighters pulled back from the rubble, at least for a time.

That mistake was from Newsmax.
“The right-leaning television network, Newsmax, has faced public backlash for employing drone footage from a building collapse in Davenport, Iowa, while reporting on a Drone Strike in Moscow, Russia.”
Drive past the lot a few times a week.
A lot of similar buildings are now condemned in the area
Doubtless this was caused by all the bums peeing on the building...
Here is the source that used the Ohio photo.
It was Greta Van Susteren of Newsmax.

—”Wooden decks on the corner units?”
Standard stuff, masonry exterior, and mostly frame interior.
My guess is a long-term small roof leak and the water frost wedging, 10% expansion at freezing, inside the wall with the freeze cycles each cycle, the crack is slightly larger.
Could also be a plumbing leak or digging near/under the foundation.
Always water problems.
The language is a little rough, but the movie, which is supposed to have been 500 years in the future has become a documentary of what is happening now.
There are many subtle nuances that may take watching it a few times to catch.
You will want everyone you know to see it.
Yep, that’s it.
My BIL lived in such as place not too far from this in the Bronx. Hs rent was $550/month rent controlled. He thought it a great place, I thought it was a s*&t hole.
GOONY ASAP. Let all of the people who voted for the Dems stay. The place is gonna all collapse soon.
Well it would be nice if there were a shelter for the people affected but... The illegals are way more important than New Yawkuhs.
