Terry Kath was an absolute beast on guitar.

They were a flawless, innovative group; and Terry Kath was incomparable on lead guitar.

Interesting to see the difference in Cetera singing before he got his jaw busted.

Danny Seraphine, such a criminally underrated drummer.

Chicago sucks. The original intent in forming the group was to “start a revolution,” and not the musical kind. Ok, so they had a lot of hits, but their songs are staid, lackluster and boring. Music is subjective; like them if you want, but my take is I will never miss hearing any of their music.

For “Questions 67 & 68,” the band name was “Chicago Transit Authority” which us teens in-the-know called “CTA.” But the REAL CTA in Chicago got made and made them change their name.

Innovation at the time was amazing. CTA, BS&T, Beach Boys, Santana, Diana Ross, Nazz, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Taj Mahal...nothing like that era ever since.

Pankow and Loughnane (sp?), classically-trained and fully-intuitive horn players...

U R right about Seraphine

I always wanted to like the band, but the horns just ruined it for me.

And they fired him. Wasaaaay back

I don’t know why. BIL heard him call into a Denver radio station back late 80s or 90s.

Loved his playing on Live at Carnegie Hall.

Saw them in the summer of 70 (maybe 69?) in a small auditorium at Va Tech. They had just cut the cta album but it wasn’t yet known.

Blew my mind. Kath was a monster, the horns were hot.

Very innovative stuff at the time.

Great performance. I had never heard that tune before. I didn’t realize the band was from Russia until I read the notes.
