Forget it Jake.
“You’re screwin just like a Chinaman!”
I rewatched about half of it just yesterday, up to the point where Roman Polanski does his switchblade cameo on Jake’s nose. Might pick it up from there tonight.
I doubt Jake will be picking his nose after that scene tho ;-)
Although incomprehensible in plot The Big Sleep has its moments. Kiss Me Deadly is worth a look.
My favorite line: “Yuou’re screwing just like a Chinaman”.
As brilliant today as it was in 1974. A true classic.
“Best PI movie this side of The Maltese Falcon. “
Yes, and in BOTH cases the leading lady was a total flop.
And almost spoiled each of them.
But in both cases the leading man carried the entire movie and made each a masterpiece.
“Although incomprehensible in plot The Big Sleep has its moments.”
Are you kidding? It’s one of the 10 best movies ever made.
L
One of the rare movies where the protagonist is in every scene.
Great great flick and IMHO Jack Nicholson’s best performance.
one of Polanski’s great movies

YouTube says provider has made this video unavailable in your country. Why would you want to do that? Not complaining, just wondering.
True enough, but others deserve mention: the two version of the The Big Sleep; Farewell My lovely; A Walk Among the Tombstones; The Long Goodbye; Harper; and Devil in a Blue Dress.
Never hard of it....looks like a classic though - might give it a look see since I enjoy some of the classic movies if they’re any good.
Note how Polanski changed Towne’s script so that the child rapist gets off scot free, and more.
Polanski was doing in real life what the fictional Noah Cross did in the movie.
No wonder Polanski liked his ending.
Had not thought of that before. Thank you! I'll pay attention to that next time.
