A memo from a Wisconsin deputy city administrator discouraged employees from putting up “religious decorations” in “red and green colors” for the holidays in public buildings in order to be “inclusive.”

The email from Wauwatosa Deputy City Administrator Melissa Cantarero Weiss, obtained by local outlet Wisconsin Right Now, began by requesting that city employees create a “welcoming and inclusive environment for all residents and visitors to our buildings, as well as all our co-workers.”

The message went on to ask that workers refrain from using “religious decorations” or “those solely associated with Christmas (such as red and green colors)” in public spaces within city buildings.

Weiss continued to suggest alternatives to traditional Christmas decorations, like snowflakes, “snow people,” and lights, using “colors like blue, green and purple instead.” […]

Following backlash sparked by media reports, Wauwatosa’s mayor sent an email to the city’s Common Council, confirming the legitimacy of Weiss’s email. …

Is their motivation to avoid a Christmas Parade attack
like Waukesha experienced in 2021?

“I don't to want to be “inclusive”??”

Then it looks like we will have to exclude you ... 8-)

In my youth ... no one cared what someone else wanted to put up ... santa clause or baby Jesus ... menorahs or candy canes.
Or nothing.
Everyone just had a good time with it.

So who are the haters ... who are the ones who are so offended by someones choice?

Why have the haters been given control?

Why do we bend to the will of a few sour people?

I say let it roll ... if someone is “offended” it's on them , in their heart.
And anyone who tries to use their position to bully others should be sued into the dust.
And yes ... I am offended by them.

The reason for my post is that choosing to ban red and green because they are perceived as non-inclusive religious colors is absurd. They’re just traditional, non-scriptural colors based on how people decorated for winter observances, be they Christian or pagan. Evergreen foliage such as holly was what was colorful, available and free at that time of year in northern Europe, the origin for many of our Christmas decorating traditions.

They want to celebrate Christmas the way it’s celebrated in Oceania.
