What if a controlled nuke event occurred under the guise of an unavoidable war (disguised as Armageddon) and handily dug a long wide ditch from Aqaba up to the Mediterranean?
Is this another “Free Republic fact” where someone repeats or fabricates a claim based on how well it supports their pre-existing opinion?
After the Yom Kipper war in ‘73 the Israelis owned the Sinai and half of the Suez. It would seem that if the BG canal was a working plan at the time they would have never given the Sinai back to Egypt?
1) Because it would have to be a series of nukes located underground along the route. Nukes do not produce naturally narrow channels. You would still need to build a lock and channel system.
2) Israel and the dead sea sit on top of continental plates. You do not want to disturb those. Nukes might do that.
3) They would produce a large amount of radioactive material that would affect nearby populations of Israel.
4) The listed route bypasses Gaza to the north.
5) They need to retain their nukes for self defense.
Offhand.
My first reaction : sounds like crazy talk.
My second reaction : I’m not rejecting this as a possibility. So many things that sounded crazy just a few short years/month/days ago are now happening.
... and a lot of things that aren’t entirely true have elements of truth in them.
