This is an open question on what a third party or a revamped, RINO-free Republican party should look like. The goal for most of us here is to establish a party that's more beholden to the people, not the special interests. The election of Mike Johnson appears to be a good step in the right direction. But my question is less about how we go about establishing such a party, whether a brand-new party or a reformed GOP, and more about how the party structure might be changed in the future to keep the Establishment/Globalist interests at bay.
For example, maybe the whole nomination process should be shortened from the year long, primary based campaign that we currently have, to a shorter process - possibly relying more on caucuses than primaries. Might this be helpful in minimizing the influence of the wealthy donor class and make it possible for true citizen politicians (as opposed to career politicians) to rise to the top?
I don't know the answer(s), but it's a discussion worth having, IMO. Any thoughts?
What I would like to see is a party that is fiscally conservative, socially libertarian and one who see the Constitution as the way our founders meant it. A party that is America First.
’ Back Stabbers’ That old song aptly sung by a group call the ojays comes to mind when I allow President Donald J Trump and the republican party to come into the same thought.
What happened in the Speaker fight this week is a good example of how politics in the US works
The solution is not to punt for some imaginary “perfect” 3rd party. The solution is to fight.
Back people who are willing to take principled stands like Trump, Gaetz and the 8 rebels. When push came to shove the weak links, the 25 RINOS, in the US House exposed themselves
Next step is to primary the 25 Rhinos and send the 8 Rebels some strong re-enforcement
US Politics is a game of 1st downs, it is not a game where every play can be 100 yard run for a touchdown
What the 100%eer want is every play to be a touchdown for their opinions as if the political opposition, both inside, and outside, the party does not exist. The 100%er always forget that the bulk of US Voters, those fickle bitches, matter in what can be accomplished at any given time.
So either the 100%er either need to learn how to work within the realities of how they US Constitutional Republic system works or they can spend their lives politically irrelevant.
The Know Nothing Party, sounds like today's Democrats... 🤓
Bluntly, the USA needs more than 3 parties:
1. Small government, socially conservative, economically liberal
2. Small gov, soc conservative, economically regulated
3. Small gov, soc liberal, econ liberal
4. Small gov, soc liberal, econ regulated
5. Big gov, soc cons, econ liberal
6. Big gov, soc cons, econ reg
7. Big gov, soc lib, econ lib
8. Big gov, soc lib, econ reg
Just the two “umbrella parties” satisfies no one
The problem with RINOs in government is the same problem that gives us democrats in government.
Either the elections are rigged or they are being voted into office by majorities comprised of people who think like they do.
Never forget - voters elected Fetterman knowing he is a mental case.
And they have been electing and re-electing Joe Biden for almost 50 years knowing he is a crook, a liar, a plagiarist and a buffoon.
That makes sense. There should be a greater willingness to expel politicians who blatantly act against the core principles of the party.
That’s an interesting idea. Basically you’re talking about a separate, independent party structure devoted to vetting Republican candidates. That has some potential.
I don’t believe for a minute that Fetterman won legitimately. (Not that we don’t also have lots of mindless voters voting for mindless candidates.)
It’s rigged and controlled by the party apparatus on both sides, which is really two sides of the same coin.
There’s the Government Party and the People’s Party.
There is no Third Way.
There’s RINOs, GOPe, Moochers, Grifters, Military Industrial Complex, Big Pharma, Big Ag, Race Hustlers, Goobermint Unions, etc . . .
Then there’s The People.
The People are now MAGA.
Everything else is something else.
Clarity makes for good discussion.
This is THE #1 problem.
A 3rd Party would guarantee Rat Party rule in perpetuity.
quantim wrote: “For starters, a party that never, ever, at no time, not under any conditions, at any point makes a *compromise* with the democrats, RINOs, or uniparty for anything.”
When you have a party 50% of the voters agree on, then you can have a party that doesn’t compromise.
But be prepared, because it is likely that a new political party focusing on a secure border and fiscal sanity will attract many democrats along with disillusioned republicans.
And don't forget that in 2014, hardly anybody would have put Donald Trump on a list of "The 10 most conservative-value people in America".
If the ruse works....
I think looking at Republican Party financing could help. There are big “donors” for both parties, but the parties treat them differently, I think.
The ‘Rat party lets donors pay in huge sums, but when a party line vote comes up, the office holder has to toe the party line or they withhold party funding, etc, at the next election.
The Pubbies say, oh, you voted against the party? That’s OK, we still love you. Here’s money from WinRed and we’ll support you with publicity, etc. Ronna McDaniel needs to go, instantly.
That would at least counterbalance a bit the big donor bribes, er, donations.
Of course, having secret ‘Rats, like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell as party leaders doesn’t help. They should be willing, like the ‘Rat party leaders, to tell wayward members to vote right or lose committee memberships, etc. When the party leadership are squishes or worse, there is no penalty at all for betrayal.
The only way it works is if the voters get involved the way they used to be. It works for the voters because they become more familiar with the issues that impact them, and the politicians will need to earn those votes instead of paying for them with someone else’s money to run a bazillion splashy ads.
Read/reread Washington’s Farewell Address.
He was right about political parties.
Pity we didn’t listen.
