Getting around downtown Chicago is a challenge at the best of times. Weekdays feature a constant flow of carefully and swiftly moving traffic; weekends all the more so.
SNIP
There was already a big event scheduled for Saturday– the Halloween Parade, attracting some 50,000 spectators. Back in the days when the infamous Machine still functioned, they would not have granted a permit for a competing event two blocks away on a Saturday afternoon.
But at about 3:00 p.m., thousands of pro-Hamas protesters – both pedestrians and vehicles - converged on Chicago’s downtown, centering around the intersection of Ida B. Wells Drive (named for a famous black Republican journalist of the 19th century) and Michigan Avenue (named for our own Great Lake), mere blocks to the east).
There was no room for this massive, unsanctioned demonstration, so it tied up traffic for hours, as thousands of people carrying full-size flags of the imagined nation of Palestine that the supporters of the terrorist groups Hamas and Fatah hope someday to establish in place of Israel.
I don’t know when people started bringing full-size flags to demonstrations; I certainly don’t recall them in the days when I used to watch (or counterprotest) such things, many years ago. Conservative demonstrations might have two or three full-size American flags to lead a parade and give the crowd a direction to face for the Pledge. Leftist demonstrations would have dozens of picket signs. But it’s not like the demonstrations of the 1970s and 80s had hundreds of Soviet or ChiCom flags flying around. Even those enemy nations’ own paid agitators (and yes, during the Cold War, there were plenty) knew better than to make their allegiance so blatantly obvious.

I wonder how many islamist jihadists we have in the USA today.
Millions.
War is coming. On our soil.
We’re probably going to start seeing Chicongo paraglider flybys instead of drivebys.
This was probably more because they are always just waiting for any excuse to loot free stuff.
I have always found it fascinating, once I discovered that Israel does not have provisions for its private citizens to widely own and use firearms. They have no equivalent to the Second Amendment, and their gun laws appear to be fairly draconian.
That is at odds with everything you ever see in the media… They always show Israelis walking around with automatic weapons, slung over their shoulders while they’re drinking coffee. Turns out the opposite is true.
I don’t understand that.
If there ever was a country in this entire world that should have the equivalent of a second amendment, and a population that is fully invested in the use and maintenance of that right, I always thought that would be Israel
If it ever comes to that in this country, I expect the second amendment to be our last bulwark of defense.
That is, if we can find a way to keep our own government from throwing us in jail for protecting ourselves. I don’t want it ever to get to a point where we have to leverage the second amendment in a serious manner on a daily basis around the country to combat active terrorists, but if we do… I expect that would be less of an issue at that time.
I hope that last paragraph isn’t just fantasy, but I expect there are many who I fully expect that. On my part, if that time ever comes, I will take my chances with the hostility of my own government against me for defending myself.
Yes, what do we do about our fellow citizens who support terrorists? I have a neighbor that insist on flying Hamas supporting BLM flag. I’m not gonna go onto their property to tear it down, but it is incredibly offensive, I have to wonder at their American loyalties, especially as they are Chinese immigrants. Go figure.
I wonder how many islamist jihadists we have in the USA today.

Don’t have a clue, but definitely MANY more than any rational person ever would have permitted. The huge problem is those who have their grimy hands on the levers of power got where they are supported by hordes of people who are not only irrational but down-right IGNORANT!
Between the homeless, illegals, open air drug markets, car jackings, robberies, store lootings, murders, shootings and more, how will I be able to tell the difference in Shitcago???
Being from China, they know to check the political landscape, wherever you are. It might actually be an 'insurance policy' against attacks by certain other 'people'. They may not actually give a damn about BLM....................
If it ever comes to that in this country, I expect the second amendment to be our last bulwark of defense.

Next to last.
That is what I was thinking too.
I think you mean that the First Amendment precedes the 2nd Amendment...and in that, if that is what you meant, I most emphatically concede that point and agree.
If the First Amendment disappears, the Second Amendment does too, and we will be in a wholly new place.
Well, not wholly new, but hundreds of years into the past.

Well, the mayor lives and works in tidy well protected places, and his vanguard is attired in snappy threads. Which is a morale booster.
We have at least one in Congress. That means a majority in her district supports her views. We have a huge problem and I am afraid it’s about to rear it’s ugly head
It’s nice of them to let us know on which side they stand. Of course, if you’re flying an American flag on your front porch, you’re telling them your status.
Yes, I’ve even got a Jewish flag hanging underneath of the American flag at my front door, previously had a Trump sign in the yard, now it DeSantis sign. And, I do have multiple security cameras, and will press charges if anybody touches any of it.
