A Texas judge ruled that Infowars host Alex Jones cannot use bankruptcy protection to avoid paying Sandy Hook massacre victims' families more than $1.1 billion for his conspiracy theories that the 2012 shooting was a hoax.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Lopez of Houston issued the ruling Thursday.
"The families are pleased with the Court’s ruling that Jones’s malicious conduct will find no safe harbor in the bankruptcy court," said lawyer Christopher Mattei, who represents the families. "As a result, Jones will continue to be accountable for his actions into the future regardless of his claimed bankruptcy."

“If conspiracy theories are illegal now, why aren’t all the flat earthers and moon landing deniers in jail?”
And why aren’t the pushers of the Russia/Trump collusion Clinton created conspiracy, included the media, all in jail or bankrupt for their reporting?
I believe it was Ariel Sharon who won the quintessential defamation case against TIME magazine back in the 1980s. The jury found in his favor and awarded him $1 in damages. They basically acknowledged that he was defamed by the magazine, but he couldn’t demonstrate with a straight face that he had suffered any harm as a result.
I still don’t know why Hitlery wasn’t at least charged with a crime for her part in the Russia collusion hoax.
Oh please. Sandy Hook was in 2012 four years before Trump was elected. Jones’s words lead to lead to parents and first responders getting harrased and death threats before Trump. If McCain or Romney was President instead of Obama, conservatives would be saying Jones deserved it.
The lawfare against Jones is from the same people who want to eliminate Trump and severely punish the January 6th protesters.
Judge needs to be socked in the mouth followed by a beating.
He is just another liberal crapweasel arrogant little tyrant stinking up the legal system.
What is despicable is human garbage like this judge. No one was injured by Jone's claims, and certainly not to the tune of 1 billion dollars.
Everyone involved in suing Jones needs to get beat half to death. This is the kind of sh*t that proves our legal system is utterly screwed up, and we would be better off guillotining everyone making ridiculous legal decisions like this.
Jones is not a threat to our lives, but these sh*tty judges certainly are.
Firstly, bullsh*t. Jones is an act and one not seen as serious by anyone who knows who he is.
Secondly, even if that claim was true, the punishment is excessive, and because of this, I think everyone involved should get hurt. They have committed a horrible offense against Jones and against Justice, and *THEY* need to be punished.
The human garbage in this story are the plaintiffs and the corrupt stupid judges and lawyers involved.
Yes. Our legal system is so screwed up because of sh*tty Judges, and we need them out of the system, preferably with great pain inflicted upon them.
First. Not B*llshit. He presented himself on the radio as a person who presented facts. Whatever he said on the radio, since he did not clarify until trial, was treated factually. He said, facutally, that the parents sacrificed their children for a conspiracy.
Second, I would agree with you about the punishment. It shouldn’t be in the bilions. It should be in line with whatever demonstratable damage he did by accusing the parents of killing their own children for the cause of the globalists.
Third, it was his mistake when he said his accusation factually instead of keeping in the realm of questions. That’s his fault.
True or not, you impose a billion dollar penalty on someone, you've lost any moral authority you ever had. Dictatorial power should always be condmemned and opposed.
Don't pretend this is reaasonable or even legal. The imposition of 1 billion dollars penalty is evidence itself to prove the court is a lying sack of sh*t, and should be penalized itself.
A Billion dollars is like a murderer stabbing someone 60 times. It shows hate filled intent.
The Case should be overturned simply on the basis that everyone involved is a hate filled piece of sh*t.
*WE* are the victim. Get it right. What they can do to Jones is not about him, it's about anyone the corrupt left sees as a threat.
When you ask for a billion dollars, you lose any moral authority you ever had. Now *YOU* are the bad guy.
These guys have your brainwashed.
When I was working I would hear about how you couldn’t do something for one customer because it would lead to having to give the same stuff to everyone else. Except that never happened.
Jones and Trump have you believing there is an invisible cabal that is out there conspiring to punish their bad behavior. It’s never about the shit they do..it’s about the system.
What Jones did was deplorable. He went to trial. He lost. We have a trial system in this country that works. Perhaps Jones could have apologized. Nope..it’s the jury’s fault.
He’s screwed now.
Perhaps he could attempt at being a human being and not a charlatan. They might take $50 off the top.
Get your head out of your A$$! Where I come from, "FREE SPEECH" is the "LAW of the LAND."
My hatred and disgust of the federal Judiciary goes all the way back to the 1970s when they just made up bullsh*t to advance their own personal ideas about how things should be.
That these same sacks of sh*t are still f***ing up the legal system with their emotion driven opinions and beliefs is nothing new. This is what they have always been doing for most of my life.
So this is not about Trump, it's not about Jones, though you are trying to make this about them, it's about sh*tty judges imposing their own personal beliefs on others because they are petty little dictators who think they can get away with it because they have power.
And the same is true of many state judges around the country. Judges are some of the worst garbage human beings you will ever meet. They lie to get their way, and they have no honor. The put on their silly little show and pretend they are wise like Solomon, but in reality it's often just one big Kabuki dance drama with the conclusion foreordained by their own personal whim.
This case is just another example of our garbage legal system and the garbage people running it trying to rule us, and it is about nothing else.
I have never heard Alex Jones in my life. I have heard of him, but I don't listen to his show, I don't go to his website, and I only have second hand knowledge, mostly what I read on this website about him, to base my opinion of him on.
This isn't about Alex Jones. This is about dictator judges imposing their personal beliefs on others. That's why we should all be hating on this particular judge more so than others. This is about denying freedom of speech to people who are troublesome to the ruling class. This is about lawfare against enemies of the state.
This is about them trotting the Jews away while waiting to get us.
We have a trial system in this country that works.
We have a completely dysfunctional garbage legal system that "works" insofar as it produces a result, but doesn't "work" insofar as it reliably produces a correct result.
Some couple of decades back I was listening to the radio when I heard that a man who spent 17 years in prison was being released, because DNA evidence proved he didn't commit the crime.
As I heard this coming over the radio, I thought to myself, "How does one prove a man committed a crime, when the man did not in fact commit the crime?"
It's impossible. Clearly our dysfunctional court system has a different understanding of the meaning of "prove" than I do. Clearly the standards they require of evidence are not as good as the standards I would insist upon when it comes to convicting a man of a crime and sentencing him to decades in prison.
And this is not an outlier. The Innocence project has proven time and time again that our legal system is very broken, and many people are falsely convicted.
The legal system is garbage, and people have displaced faith in it's functionality. It works as well to dispense justice as a witch doctor works to dispense healing, and by a pretty similar process of public ritual.
Yes I had a great deal of experience with 2 local corrupt Circuit Court Judges..involving a 4 yr long trial/legal battle..It was God’s blessing a Jury saw it my way as if the Judges has ruled the way the Dependents had wanted I had a plan in place day of the verdicts to deal with them once and for all..God intervened thus saving me from that fate.
