“Give people in developing countries access to credit so they can create their own farms”
Once the Grandkids (all 13 of them!) were teens, instead of exchanging gifts at Christmas, we would pool our money and donate to charity. It was a pretty substantial sum - usually close to $1K. Anyone could do a presentation on the charity they wanted, then we voted, but Grandpa (Patriarch) had the final say.
They year we wanted to buy livestock for one of those global organizations (Heifer, Inc.?) The Old Man put his foot down.
‘Those people are just going to EAT the animals you send to them, not start a farm!’
And that was the end of that, LOL!
Your grandfather was wise.
Sending food to starving people simply feeds them for a short while.
It is better to teach them self sufficiency.
If they will not learn that, your responsibility to them is finished..................
