By the time they’re cheap enough to buy, the tech will be outdated... Besides... Nothing beats the internal combustion engine for longevity. Model T’s are still on the road... That can’t be said for the first electric vehicle ever made.

No thanks. Using up all the electricity means house not cool in summer and cool in winter. Too expensive to replace batteries and who wants to buy a used EV?

I bought an electric car not long ago that had a pretty decent range,
but the extension cord took up the entire trunk and back seat.

Who would park, or especially charge them in their garages, given their propensity for self-immolation. Additionally, crash damage costs, range loss, impending battery obsolescence, parts shortages, etc. make possible future, costs go way beyond payable.

Even if the car was free you will soon have higher electric bills, higher insurance premiums, higher maintenance for some items (tires, etc).
