Tesla’s base Model 3 and Model Y now have both cheaper starting prices than the average new car in the US.
This could open the eyes of more buyers who didn’t consider going electric before.

No that is not actually true.
There are lots of cheap Chinese cars so far, some arguably getting better. But Teslas are a real, world-class competitor.
And LOTS of people buy them, already.
The batteries are the best idea they came up with.
I bought an electric car not long ago that had a pretty decent range,
but the extension cord took up the entire trunk and back seat.
He said engines and I answered about the engines. Electric engines are ridiculously long-lasting and need almost no maintenance.
Perhaps I was too literal.
The are comparing a base model Tesla price with a 220 mile range to the average us vehical sold including SUV’s.
Does that take into account the battery replacement cost?
I [the poster] disagree. Used EVs can have major problems. Who would park, or especially charge them in their garages, given their propensity for self-immolation. Additionally, crash damage costs, range loss, impending battery obsolescence, parts shortages, etc. make possible future, costs go way beyond payable.
Rather just get a fully loaded Hyundai Elantra. Wife’s 2020 will do 50+ mpg.
Hehe.
Just remember please, the electric vehicles just became cheaper,
That process will continually improve.
Gas-powered? Not so much.
What’s a new garage cost? I mean, after the previous burned hulk is cleared away...
You wait. Building codes will be changed making sprinkers manditory in garages. Crazy begets more crazy.
Easy to be cheaper when the government tilts the playing field in your favor.
HeHe./s
It’s a free country. It’s not my problem if a bunch of lefties want to run out and throw their money away on an electric fagmobile.
Hehe? You leftist NVA freak. They are artificially making ICE vehicles more expensive.
So far theose POS EVs are not catching on at any price only catching fire. Stay out of US politics.
Sprinklers are already required in about 70% of the parking garages.
Something somewhat connected that most people don’t consider is that fire trucks don’t fit in parking garages. A fire in a parking garage has to be fought from stand-pipes in stairwells and from the outside by snorkel truck.
“Electric engines have very long lives”
There is no such thing as an “electric engine”. They are motors.
Lol...
