Marjorie, it should say “...put HIS full efforts....”
The personal adjectival pronoun “they” is plural, and “Speaker,” the antecedent here, is singular.
I know this comes off as nitpicking to some, but this is just another example of the left’s high-jacking of the language. They are attempting to blur the lines between the sexes.
Not to me it doesn't.
I agree, the ungrammatical use of “they” to indicate one or persons of any sex is stupid. It’s in such common use now I’m sure that most people use it without intending to blur natural distinctions. I should stop using it!
