Gnosticism is a collection of religious ideas and systems that emerged in the late 1st century AD among Jewish and early Christian sects. It emphasizes personal spiritual knowledge (gnosis) above the proto-orthodox teachings, traditions, and authority of religious institutions.3 Gnosticism is a loosely organized religious and philosophical movement that flourished in the first and second centuries CE. Arian heresy came up in a separate discussion of Islam, not Gnosticism.
Of course, Gnostics were also deemed to be a heresy by the Church orthodoxy, who were in the process of setting up an authoritative priesthood around the 4th & 5th century.
The non-pastoral Epistles of Paul are very Gnostic, if one understands that Paul--truly one of history's great geniuses--was speaking on two levels throughout, one of which was intended for consumption by those who were chosen since the beginning. (cf: Ephesians)
I have no idea whether the term "Gnostic" ever entered Paul's vocabulary, but centuries later his writings were adopted by followers of Jesus who did, apparently, use the term, "Gnostic," before being driven completely underground.
The Gospel that is considered very Gnostic is John, the initial 7 verses being a dead giveaway. But I see this channel of thought in all the Gospels, which were written in 2nd & 3rd centuries.
If you're interested, I highly recommend two books by Elaine Pagels: (1) The Gnostic Gospels (about the Nag Hammadi library, found buried in a jar in Egypt in 1945); and, (2) The Gnostic Paul, a line-by-line interpretation of the dual message throughout Paul's writings.

If you consider that pantheism, Gnosticism and paganism were those original religions.
Look into the historical aspect of the Bible and you will see practices of sun worship, animism and moon worship well before God revealed Himself to His first church while they were still in Egyptian captivity.

That's pretty much the way I see it.
I would just add, that such spiritual knowledge is knowledge of God, not "Self" as someone suggested. I think that other idea may relate to Hinduism or Buddhism, not to Gnostic Christians.
Jesus addressed the concept of a seed of divine life within each person, which might be cultivated under the right circumstances, in his Parable of the Sower.

Coronavirus patients treated with a combination of hydroxychloroquine – furiously denounced by the media and medical establishment after then-President Donald Trump revealed he was taking it – and azithromycin enjoyed better survival rates, a study has revealed.
The study, published in the scientific journal New Microbes and New Infections, evaluated “the efficacy and safety of a treatment protocol with [a] standard dose of hydroxychloroquine plus azithromycin in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 infection” by comparing the 28-day mortality rate of 352 patients treated with the drugs to a contemporary control group of 3,533 patients who received standard care.
Researchers found a “statistically significant reduction in crude mortality rate at 28 days was observed in the [hydroxychloroquine plus azithromycin] group” – emphasizing their findings “do not support the current negative recommendations regarding this treatment.”
Donald Trump, who stuck by his belief in hydroxychloroquine, based on the testimony of frontline doctors, despite pressure to withdraw his support, long argued the animus against the drug was motivated purely by the fact he had endorsed it.

Gnosticism, secret knowledge. Not the way you described it. Your description is true of Christian faith in the sacrifice Jesus made, salvation for all who believe. Gnosticism deals with extra...extra knowledge not previously known or understood or in addition to the written Word.
