Fox's Tucker Carlson Criticizes Trump's Killing of Soleimani (Flashback)

Tucker Carlson, one of Fox News' biggest boosters of President Donald Trump, made an impassioned case against the airstrike that killed Iran’s top military leader, blasting Washington for ignoring "the big picture."

During his Friday night show, "Tucker Carlson Tonight," the host decried the escalation of tensions with Iran sparked by the killing of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.

"No one in Washington is in the mood for big-picture questions right now," he lamented. "Questions like: Is Iran really the greatest threat we face?

Tucker’s a rare media figure who doesn’t actually use his Twitter channel as a means of opining on every subject under the sun, the instant it happens.

A search shows the following:

- Tucker has mentioned Iran by name only *seven* times since 2010. The last time was 2018.

- Tucker has mentioned Israel by name *never*.

- Tucker has mentioned Ukraine a few dozen times, but even then the first mention on Twitter was from October 2020, in relation to Hunter Biden and Burisma.

Tucker has undoubtedly mentioned Iran, Israel, and Ukraine more on his shows; just not on Twitter specifically. That’s just not how he operates.

But for some reason, he’s supposed to immediately join the media and political hive mind in terms of public proclamations? Why?

Maybe Tucker was at Biden’s BBQ yesterday and didn’t have time to make a statement.

Where’s Tucker’s statement of support for Israel?

Tucker Carlson does not have to issue a "statement of support" for anyone or anything if he doesn't want to. That's just not how he runs his Twitter channel.

And even in the article you provided, how is *this* pimping for Iran?

"Gen. Soleimani is dead because he was an evil bastard who killed Americans," Carlson declared. "Does that make killing him simple? It is not. Nothing about life and certainly not killing is ever very simple and any politician who says otherwise is dumb or is lying."..."As is so often the case, the preferences of actual Americans don't enter the equation at all," he said. "They are immaterial. In 2016, Donald Trump ran on a promise of fewer foreign adventures. He vowed instead to focus on our problems here at home, which are growing. Against the odds, he won that election, probably because of that promise."

Meanwhile, from a Fox News article posted the day prior to yours (i.e. in January 3rd, 2020), more quotes from the same episode are provided:

Carlson argued that many pro-war U.S. officials refuse to look at the important questions when it comes to conflicts in the Middle East. ..."No one in Washington is in a mood for big-picture questions right now. Questions, the obvious ones like: Is Iran really the greatest threat we face? And who's actually benefiting from this? And why are we continuing to ignore the decline of our own country in favor of jumping into another quagmire from which there is no obvious exit?" Carson said. "By the way, if we're still in Afghanistan 19 years, sad years later, what makes us think there's a quick way out of Iran ... ?"... "Yes, Soleimani was linked to the deaths of Americans. Nobody mourns his passing. But Mexico and China are also linked to the deaths of Americans. Each has flooded our country with narcotics from which tens of thousands of Americans die every single year," Carlson argued. "Not that anyone in power cares. So does that mean we get to bomb Oaxaca? Can we start assassinating generals in the [Chinese] People's Liberation Army?" ... "There are an awful lot of bad people in this world. We can't kill them all. It's not our job," Carlson said, adding: "It's pretty clear that things could start to move in the wrong direction pretty quickly, we're praying they don't, but they could."

Note that this was mere weeks before the pandemic lockdowns consumed everything else, so it's practically from a different world.

But in what sense can anyone honestly call this "pimping for Iran"?

Why are you making the gross assumption that Tucker Carlson's opinion regarding the death of Soleimani (insofar as to whether it was actually meaningful to American interests as compared to GREATER threats) is somehow indicative of his opinion on the current war between Israel and Hamas?

Wow THAT’S IT, I can NEVER vote for Trump now!!
Really go away. And Carlson has come to our side so beating up over the past is useless. Until he does his show with an Arab do rag on he deserves the benefit of any doubt.

Where’s Tucker’s statement of support for Israel?

Notwithstanding that you've already been shown he doesn't use his Twitter channel like that (not just for Israel or Iran, but in general)...why do you *care* what Tucker says or doesn't say?

You obviously don't like him.

Bleating for a statement of support from someone whose opinion you don't value just strikes me as bizarre.

Tucker’s silence is obvious and intentional.

All high profile conservatives have issued statements of support for Israel except for Tucker. And you’re mad at me for calling him out? Ok.

Tucker’s silence is obvious and intentional.

Of course it is; you just assume it's for nefarious reasons. But he doesn't really talk about anything on his Twitter channel not related to his show or clips from his speeches; anyone who actually looks over his Twitter history can see that. Outside of his show or any speeches he makes, he doesn't make "statements of support" for...anything.

Why is that a problem?

And again, why do you *care*?

Why do you want a statement of support for ANYTHING from someone whose opinion you don't value?

“Where’s Tucker’s statement of support for Israel?”

Who are you to demand that he has one?

“Tucker’s silence is obvious and intentional.”

Then why do you keep asking for statement?

You're calling out someone for not breaking a consistent pattern of behavior with how they use their own Twitter channel?
