A zookeeper at a Japanese safari park died after a lion apparently attacked him as he tried to bring the animal to its cage, police said on Friday (Sep 29).
Kenichi Kato, a 53-year-old worker at Tohoku Safari Park in the Fukushima region, was found bleeding from his neck and unconscious inside the lion's cage on Thursday afternoon, a local police spokesman told AFP.
"It is believed that he was feeding a lion," the spokesman, who declined to be named, said.

And then you guys came along an interrupted the whole thing.
Some days you’re the bug, some days you’re the windshield.
Being a huge fan of African wildlife (seen in Africa *and* on hundreds of videos) I can say that that’s not a nice way to go.
Our cat, Fat Mike always said “Nine times out of ten, the (Zookeeper/Christmas Tree) was the aggressor.”
Why was he found? They don’t deal with dangerous animals in pairs? Why was he in the cage with the lion??? I’ve seen other zoos, they feed animals through a hatch.
Lions get very protective of their food, even fighting each other while eating their kill. The lion didn’t eat the poor man, so he was probably protecting his food.
Apparently? When a lion attacks and kills a person, the evidence is pretty evident.
Exactly.
Did you ever see that movie “The Ghost And The Darkness” with Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas? You’d be surprised how brutal lions 🦁 can really be.

Or as gentle as little lambs........... Just ask Daniel.
Haven’t seen that one (not a Michael Douglas fan), but I watch live safari drives which include hunting, killing and feeding by lions and other predators. Lions will tolerate young cubs up to a certain age at the table but will get into serious fights with any of their fellow pride members whom they think will take too much away from them. After they finish, then they have to bond all over again.
I don’t usually watch the capture/kill part and only some of the dining. I also avoid any Wild or Painted Dog feedings. They don’t bother to kill their prey first, they just catch and eat.
Apparently the victim forgot to lock the cage door. What a horrendous error to make for an experienced keeper.
Every safari guide I’ve watched said they’d rather find themselves in front of a lion (during the day only) then a Cape Buffalo while on bush walk.
I regularly watch Kruger National Park videos that pop up on my Youtube feed. The brutality of life in the wild is just mind boggling.
The Japanese hinterlands
Sure ain’t. I’ve been in the cage with a couple of yearling lions (many years ago) and I can certify that, while they may be playful and cute, they will kill you ded just that quick. They are NOT pets nor are they friendly.
“”The process is that we open the door, and place the food. Once the food is placed, the door is to be closed and locked,” Norichika Kumakubo, vice-president of the park, told local reporters Thursday evening.
But “the door was open at the time”, he said.”
Suicide by lion.
Not smart to go attacking a lion.
Also,a few years ago they had a "guide" ("Jamie") that I'm desperately in love with! ;-)
What evidence did the zookeeper have on Hillary Clinton?

Still better than "allegedly."
Regards,
It goes along with modern assumption that everything except Donald Trump is assumed innocent until proven guilty.
