Jack Smith has filed a ‘gag order’ against former President Donald Trump, aiming to restrict public statements that could potentially influence the outcome of an ongoing trial. The order seeks to prevent comments that might sway the trial’s result or bias potential jurors, the prosecution argues.
Smith’s order cites the court’s “duty” to shield the trial process from external influences that could materially prejudice its proceedings. The order stipulates that parties involved in the case, including their attorneys, are barred from making or authorizing public statements, including on social media platforms, that carry a significant likelihood of causing material prejudice to the case. This encompasses:
Statements discussing the identity, testimony, or credibility of potential witnesses. Statements that are disparaging, inflammatory, or intimidating about any party, witness, attorney, court personnel, or potential jurors. The defendant, in this case, Trump, is also restricted from having surrogates make such statements on his behalf. Permissible Statements: The order does not prevent the defendant or his representatives from:
Quoting or referring to the court’s public records in the case without adding any commentary. Announcing the scheduling or outcome of any judicial process stage. Seeking assistance in gathering evidence. Simply stating, without any additional commentary, that the defendant denies the charges.

SUPREME COURT ASAP! Jack Smith is PURE EVIL!
Like we did NAZI this coming.
Jack Smith, the eventual beggar looking for a handout.
this is so shocking, i’m speechless.
Way-way-way-way-WAIT!
You mean this man has a significant following--that will believe him, rather than the US branch of Pravda that runs our television sets?
Not possible. You've been telling us non-stop that Brilliant Biden wowed the electorate with his mouth and his redolent pants with a booming voter turnout in the middle of the night in 2020, and has been bringing America to new heights of domestic happiness and international near-competence for 1,000 days.
What could it matter what Trump says about an unrelated proceeding?
The First Amendment does not apply to non Party people. The Second will follow soon enough.
Any sort of political speech from DJT would fit the ban because it could affect people’s opinions of DJT and some of those people could be jurors..
Go figure.
He’s got Trumps balls in vice grips at the moment
Pretty much anything he says can be construed to be in violation
How long before Trump tests this with a rant and what will happen then?
ostracize
demonize
criminalize
we are there
The Left is on "criminalize".
But a growing number of Americans are on "push back!"
Following that logic, we must have a gag order on Smith, DOJ and all media.
I laugh.
But the DOiJ and the MSM don’t have a gag order and will be working overtime to influence potential jurors.
Trump is still innocent until proven guilty. Therefore the gag order should not apply. It’s an attack on his first amendment rights.
Even if the official Trump campaign organization had to stay silent, there's nothing to stop "unofficial" organizations from speaking out loud.
And the presence of a gag order magnifies every statement.
President Trump should IGNORE any violation of his First Amendment rights. Keep talking about anything you want.
There is no “tainting” of a DC jury who already wants Trump in prison regardless of the facts.
Trump able to “influence” a DC jury? What a joke.
Whatever happened to making complaints “in good faith”? If I go to my HR manager to file a complaint against a coworker, it must be “in good faith” or I could be screwing myself out of a job and career. Mr. Smith’s complaints against Trump are obviously not in good faith and it seems that Smith is trying to “jump the shark” with his gag order, even though it is he who is the shark. How that could be the new precedent or new “normal”, I have no idea, but I feel like I’m getting warmer.
