It is highly unlikely that Governor DeSantis will win the GOP nomination. The recent Wall Street Journal poll has cemented this into my head.
Yet, I'm sticking with DeSantis until he's out of the race, whether that be on Election Day (unlikely) or he ends his campaign during the primaries (as of now, quite likely).
I'm sticking with him because nobody else has the record of conservative accomplishments and stalwart executive leadership that he has repeatedly demonstrated. I look for action, not words.
This being said, Governor DeSantis has showed himself to be poor campaigner. He just can't close the deal. And as much as I enjoyed the victories, I think his "war on woke" has hurt him.
The best chance he has now is to pivot to economic issues, which are Trump's strong points (at least for the first three years of his administration). But Florida has a booming economy as well, with a record $22 billion surplus last year.
This pivot will be a long shot and is unlikely to be successful because he would be going up against President Trump's strongest attributes.
This will be an election on the economy and when gas prices at the pump exceed $6-7/gallon next year (and I believe they will), Trump will remind us all that we were paying under $2/gallon for much of his first term. This is going to be a big selling point. If Trump screwed up everything in 2020, he had a booming economy with plenty of jobs and low interest rates prior to that. This can't be denied.
I am resigning myself to the reality that the primaries are essentially over and Trump will be the GOP nominee. And if he is, I will vote for Trump because at the end of the day, Trump is better than Biden. Hell, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy are better than Biden!
It's a shame though. GOP primary voters would rather be led by a cult of personality than a true executive leader with a record of accomplishments. It is what it is though.
I hope Trump can pull it off. His victory will depend on Biden voters staying home.
I hope that Trump can learn from his many mistakes and not repeat them.
I hope Trump can reconcile his disastrous record on COVID.
I hope that Trump can beat back against the myriad of unjust charges that he is currently facing.
Still, Ron DeSantis is the leader that Trump tries to be and that's the truth.
And when he keeps bashing DeSantis with lies, it only shows Trump as the sad, little man that he has become. He should as of now, stop being be this sad, little man.
I hope Trump can rise above this. As of now, he will earn my vote, but he needs to become a better man.

That's pretty sad, that someone who claims to be a Conservative would stoop that low to explain why someone should vote for a candidate. This isn't 1960, when plenty of people voted for John F. Kennedy because he was supposed to be good looking, despite his being a Catholic. I remember that his religion was one of the issues when he ran. People wondered if he'd allow his religion to interfere with his making decisions. I also think people voted for him because Jackie was part of the package. I never thought JFK was handsome. I was only 13 when he was elected.

Trump’s “narcissistic martyrdom” is another way of saying “he has Balls” “Changing elections” is the left’s way of saying “Ensuring election integrity.” DeSantis is far from the fighter we need to even begin taking on the crooks in Washington. At one time, if he hadn’t gotten stars in his eyes and turned his back on Trump, he could have been groomed to continue the fight after left his second term in office. He now needs to armor up and get his character and pull his head out of his fourth point of contact.

Ron is the better man, indeed, for FLORIDA. We need his attention to remain here until he is term limited out. The Republic is shattering and the only hope I see to retain some sort of civilization is for the conservative states to begin rapidly to wall themselves off from the central government as much as possible. A serious start would be to refuse all federal funds that can be refused no matter what ratio of tax money to DC might be to federal funds received. No President, not even Trump can get control of the Federal government now. DJT is much more aware now of what he would have to do if he can surmount the chicanery of the Party and actually prevail in 2024 but he makes himself thereby more dangerous to the reigning bureaucratic politburo and he will be eliminated or walled off from any real effectiveness this time.

I’m not a Trump supporter because I like his personality. I became a Trump supporter in September 2015 following the initial debates when I realized he was the only candidate saying the same things I was saying to my husband about how to fix America’s problems. Unlike 95% of Congress, he wasn’t a professional politician or a lawyer; they’ve been in charge for decades and haven’t fixed a damn thing.
