Consecutive as well, so he was hit with the maximum possible punishment. He will probably die in prison if he serves the full sentence.

Actor Danny Masterson sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for rape I wonder if he really did it. So far I haven't heard of the evidence proving he did it, and in this modern legal climate, I consider it typical for courts to get things absolutely wrong.
Does anyone know what the evidence is here?

Justice delayed is justice denied, used to mean like the thing that is happening to J6 defendants. When you are convicted of rape from 20 years ago, this is BS. There is a reason for statute of limitations. The convincing of me if on the jury would require certainty of “without a doubt” true.

I don’t like any of these cases that were never reported when they happened and are only now coming to light 20 years later.

He always gave me a skeezy vibe. Rapists belong in prison, particularly ones that are actors playing a popular character. I’m glad he’s being sent away for a long time.

Don’t know the details here, but usually it’s not rape until it’s confirmed that there’s money to be made.

Pretty much everyone involved is a Scientologist. There is no real proof he did anything. She said, he said. he was in a years-long relationship with one accuser

Found this:
The case went to trial last year with Masterson facing three counts of rape, but an initial jury failed to reach a verdict and the judge declared a mistrial. Prosecutors retried Masterson on all three counts earlier this year.
Couldn't reach a verdict? Doesn't sound like very good evidence.

He was protected by the church of scientology for years. I think several of the women have lawsuits against the cult, now.

From the article which FReepers famously never read before commenting:
"Masterson did not testify, and his lawyers called no witnesses. The defence argued that the acts were consensual, and attempted to discredit the women's stories by highlighting changes and inconsistencies over time, which they said showed signs of coordination between them.
The women whose testimony led to Masterson's conviction said that in 2003, he gave them drinks and that they then became woozy or passed out before he violently raped them.
Olmedo allowed prosecutors and accusers to say directly in the second trial that Masterson drugged the women, while only allowing the women to describe their condition in the first.
Masterson was not charged with any counts of drugging, and there was no toxicology evidence to back up the assertion. The issue could be a factor in a planned appeal from the defence of Masterson's conviction."

Did he actually rape them, or did they dopy their stories from a “Law and Order” episode, as E. Jean Carroll did?
To: Jonty30
I have little doubt that he was in sexual encounters with the accusers. But I’d have to see the evidence, given that he was old enough and well-known enough to be aware that he would risk his future employability by seriously mistreating a woman. If it was violent enough to cause injury, they could have come forward years ago even without #MeToo.
