I had seen Road Warrior for many years before I ever saw MadMax, and it surprised me how different the first move was from the sequel.

The first movie was very low budget.

We loved it in college because a couple of us had Kawasaki KZ 650s & 750 motorcycles.

“Hugh Keays-Byrne”

He also played “Immortan Joe” in “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

Yeah, the first one was supposed to be a society just starting to slip over the edge, and by the time of the “The Road Warrior” it was fully gone.

Yeah, and so far on this thread, everyone is referencing "The Road Warrior". "Mad Max" was a very different film, to be sure.

This is where one learns that Michael Knight was not the real "Night Rider".

What a great, classic film. Very satisfying to watch Max dish out revenge. There is no mercy.

George Miller put a great deal of thought into how societies collapse. By the time of “The Road Warrior,” the outback has taken over. By the time of “Beyond Thunderdome,” nothing is left.

I liked the whole original movie, and the Fury Road movie.

Which audio track? Original Australian or American accent dubbed?

Mad Max was a good low-budget movie. It’s watchable and innovative for its time. The Road Warrior takes it up a few notches with a bigger budget ($3M versus $350K). I like both, but Road Warrior is better.
