If God is all powerful, then why can’t he stop evil from happening? That would mean he’s not all powerful. If God refuses to prevent evil, then he can not be all good. So can a Christian explain how God is all powerful and good in this case?

*[YouTube “wall of text” formatted into readable form, mostly by use of https://poe.com, which was instructed to just provide punctuation, paragraph spacing, capitalized pronouns, and place any interpolations in brackets for better readability (instructions needed for each instance of operation). To obtain transcription, if captions are available, pause YouTube vid at beginning, then hit 3 horizontal dots below pic to choose “Show Transcript,” and then hit 3 vertical dots on the top right of the transcript, and choose Toggle timestamps. Then select the first word of the text, and then scroll down to the end, and hold down the Shift key and select the last word, and then copy the text you want to paste for AI editing)

I suspect how man and God view both power and goodness differ immensely. Not to mention man doesn’t have God’s context or perspective. Are you really trying to box God in with that question? Talk about hubris.

While
https://www.quora.com is a mixed of truly informative and interesting answers on many subjects, as regards religion, it abounds with anti-theists with their typical ignorant and often irrational rantings against God, mostly that of the Bible, and with very very few Christian answers for such challenging questions as this (many of which I suspect are planted by anti-theists in the light of their pile-on of scornful, often vulgar vulgar responses) getting many upvotes compared to anti-theists.
I have gone rounds with some of them (as here) in comments, by the grace of God, but usually they are so recalcitrant that further extended debate is not warranted.

It’s a good point you make.
We have only our own view to work with. Our own view shows we can choose right or wrong. It shows us God gave us this choice, and that he gave it to other beings he created.
I think this is all we need to answer the question of evil, but I could be overlooking something.

Allowing free-choice evil is God’s way of sorting out who gets to share eternity with Him.
Your assumption is people of their own ability would choose God. They many choose their idea of God, that is granted but to choose God and His ideas of God, ALL have fallen short.
One of the most revealing questions is: Did you choose God or did God choose you.

This theoretical discussion gets real when tragedy gets personal—as in discussed in the “drunk driver” thread of today.
If a family that “follows all the rules” by anyone’s definition loses a family member to a drunk driver then the “happy talk” rings rather hollow.

Two words, free will.
What was predestined was the plan of Salvation.
God knew man kind would fall, causing Him to send His only Begotten Son to be a sacrifice for sin.
Through the fall, sin entered.

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the LORD, and a thousand years is like a day. The LORD isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think.
No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the LORD will come as unexpectedly as a thief.
Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. (2 Peter 3:8-10)

“Let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He’s a prankster. Think about it. He gives man instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift, and then what does He do, I swear for His own amusement, his own private, cosmic gag reel, He sets the rules in opposition. It’s the goof of all time. Look but don’t touch. Touch, but don’t taste. Taste, don’t swallow. Ahaha. And while you’re jumpin’ from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He’s laughin’ His sick, f***n’ ass off! He’s a tight-ass! He’s a SADIST! He’s an absentee landlord! Worship that? NEVER!”
“I’m here on the ground with my nose in it since the whole thing began. I’ve nurtured every sensation man’s been inspired to have. I cared about what he wanted and I never judged him. Why? Because I never rejected him. In spite of all his imperfections, I’m a fan of man!”
