I hope to see the ortho Dr tomorrow or Wednesday. I hope he can give me some guidance. Right now any sort of movement or pressure is nearly unbearable. I have no idea how to handle most of those needs. If the Dr thinks this will improve by, say, next week, I will try to endure a few days - I am still wearing the undershirt that I was wearing when this happened. Right now the only way I can think to remove it is to cut it off.

I can't imagine how to bathe at the moment. Quentin flying out Thursday is really yukky!

Sorry to hear about the sore arm. FWIW whenever I take a hit my first impulse is to minimize shock. I keep a bucket full of gelpacs in the reefers to cool down the hit spots as soon as possible. The cold pacs not only minimize swelling/bruising but can help with getting to sleep/ The gelpacs are easy to form around a sore spot. By now I expect you have, at least, a sling to take the verticle load off the break. But Ice packs should help with the tenderness for a week or two out. Half hour on-—half hour off, is my typical regimen. If freezing the packs seems too harsh just cool them in the reefer side. good luck with recovery.

What I learned from two shoulder surgeries.

*sleep in a recliner, keeping the break above your heart.
*when you’re able, pile pillows on the bed and sleep on the opposite side, using the pillows to support the broken arm in a very neutral, unstressed position which puts no strain on the fracture and where your arm is fully supported.
*continually try not to tense up, rather focus relaxing. The pain will try to tense you and while you may not be aware of it, you’ll also be tensing muscles associated with that arm.

...unfortunately Bob, it’s simply going to take time for the pain to diminish and sleep will be difficult oftentimes. In about ten to twelve weeks, get a few full body massages from someone who KNOWS what they’re doing and with your doctor’s consent. You won’t believe the knots all over you from tension until after that first massage!

R.I.C.E is the Rx for fractures. Rest, ice, compression, elevation. Not all will be readily available at the moment, especially due to the location of the fracture.

In this all, I sincerely wish you a speedy recovery.
First your back, now this. I feel bad for you brother.

Respectfully
