The dog went straight to the nursing home each time and sat on the sofa. Heaven sent, IMO.

That photo and comment of the vintage refrigerator is so true.
We had a vintage style refrigerator that was well over 20 years old and worked perfectly but was an outdated color.
So we gave it to relative and replaced it with a new “energy efficient” design.
The old design that was no longer available had a compressor, a temperature control and wire racks - no fans, electronic push button controls, timers or computer chips.
Since then we have been through 3 very expensive “modern” refrigerators that have all failed over and over again because of their complex government engineered “energy saving” technology.
Fans burn out, computer chips go bad, ice makers malfunction, leaks appear, weird noises and clunks develop.
We are now on the 3d replacement and it is a clunker.
I don’t want to mention the name but it is a more expensive brand name that was widely advertised on TV with a repairman that wasn’t busy because (supposedly) their refrigerators were so reliable.
We have found out the hard (and expensive) way that is not the case.
